so we all know how annoying plot resetting can be, and it can occasionally be a very long process if the move-in villager is bein stubborn

this has never happened to me (yet) but i wanted to know if any unfortunate souls logged back on their mayor to see a villager in boxes after a long plot reset???? im always super paranoid of this, as ive been resetting chief for over 4 days.

can this even happen? is there a way to prevent it from happening?

I wouldn't spend 4 hours let alone 4 days plot resetting. I usually have a few spots available for them when they move in, I'm not super picky or anything, there's no exact spot I need them in.

No, a villager won?t move out while plot resetting, don`t worry:)

ooh is this true? i would be ecstatic bc ive been so worried about this happening in my town for the last 4 days

Yes the game doesn?t save while plot resetting so nothing is happening and the town is in the move-in-phase.

I don't think anyone moves while you're plot setting, unless the day before someone gave you a specific date they're leaving and it happens to be the day you're plot resetting. But then again if they told you that, you would've said no-

Also you can just look inside every house that you can go in to, and if no ones in boxes you'll be fine. If someone IS in boxes, close the game since you're on a new save file character, TT back to the previous day, and they won't be in boxes since you didn't save with the new character on the plot reset day.

ooh i see. thats very relieving to hear ; o ; like i see all these things about people resetting for weeks & im just thinkin, how can a villager not move away??? thanks for explaining!
im not sure i understand the TTing thing if someones in boxes though, since that would involve logging on your mayor & that would mess up the whole plot reset bit

Use your system clock on the 3DS. Even if your ACNL game is set to the 28th, and your system clock is the 30th.. if you set the system clock to the 29th, acnl will go back one day as well which would be the 27th.
You have to go to your menu on the 3DS system settings. c:

They will always move on that day, but since you're plot resetting and you logged onto a new save file, that day has not been saved yet until you get the Town ID for that character.
So you can exit the game and go back to the previous day and it'll act like that day never existed.

Now if you logged into an existing character on that day they're in boxes and you're like "oh crap!" and close the game without saving and go back one day, they will be gone. Because when Isabelle is "preparing your town" on the existing character in the beginning, she's saving that day and everything that has happened.

So starting up a new save file on that day is completely safe. I hope this made sense lol

If it really worried you that someone will move away, sometimes when I'm plot resetting there will be a time when no plot is in town. If I've been going at it for awhile and I'm tired I'll save and then the next day plots will be appearing again.

But that's just my experience. =P Not sure if it's the same for you.

Is this more or less a method people use to pick where a new resident's house ends up? Now that is interesting....

Pretty much. Manipulates the game to give you a choice at where villagers move in.
