Has a villager ever escaped the spot you trapped them in when doing the diving trick?

This happened to me a little while ago when I was trying to get Leonardo to request the campfire. I had trapped him right by the beach and he somehow managed to get out and go down the ramp and onto the beach.

Had this ever happened to you?

A few times, yes. Its very peculiar, if you ask me. I don't know how it happens.

I guess that would have helped me out, if I had thought of it.

Yep. In my old town I had everyone trapped but somehow Nan got out of her area and fell asleep on a stump by the cafe. Confused the heck out of me.

XD She was trapped in front of her house! Silly Nan, you could've just gone inside to take your nap. I guess she just couldn't stand being trapped with Frobert for so long. Poor kiddo.

Yes, it has happened, it happened a lot with Hamlet. I trapped him near the ramp by the beach and when I came back from the ocean back onto the beach, I saw him walking around the beach with his fishing rod. I was like " Did you jump down or something?" I've noticed this happening more often when you trap a villager near the beach.

Stitches is awful about this. He also asks to move out every other day it seems like.
Stitches is just my rebel child. Always trying to escape.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Diana somehow managed to get out even though she wasn't near the ramp of the beach.

Haha yeah, happened a few times. They ended up sitting on tree stumps or benches as well.
Probably because I trapped them close to stumps/benches because sometimes they may end up sitting on them. Never actually seen them sitting in action, so I guess it's just a thing that happens lol

What's the "diving trick" ?

Its a trick where you swim out to the edge of the map and idle for 5~10 minutes to trick the game into getting villagers to 'ping' you. Its often used to get Public Works Project requests much faster than intended.

It's never happened to me so far!

Whenever I trap them, they stop moving and just stand there. I didn't know they could actually escape. xD

The only time i noticed it is when its that villager's turn to go back in the house. So for example, the hour is up and the next hour starts, the villager is gone and I will find him back in his house.
