How are you holding it, and where do you usually rest your fingers? I've been playing my 3DS XL for a bit and it hasn't given me any problems like that

thumbs on the circle pad and the buttons and index fingers on/behind l & r
i've been holding it like that ever since i got it, though. so it shouldn't be that

Hm..

What game have you been playing recently? Maybe the combination of its controls and the gameplay is causing strain on your hands.

Maybe you've been playing more than before?

Not sure abt burning, but I'm aware hands can get numb, especially when you're holding the 3ds up and you're laying down on your back.

Could also be carpal tunnel.. but you'd probably notice the pain in other things as well. : ( Go see a doc if it starts hurting a lot?

Carpal tunnel was my first thought too. It could be the way you're holding it is putting pressure on nerves in your wrist, which would lead to pain/burning/numbness in your hands. Also, it can be developed through repetitive motion strain, which would explain why you haven't had problems before but are now, if you've held it the same way this whole time.

Sometimes my hands hurt after playing for a long time, but I'm a pianist, so I'm kind of used to it.

i only started played again recently and the pain was after i dropped my 3ds today (no scratches whatsoever though, the game works. no problems there)

and when i used my 3ds xl, it hurt, but when i used my 3ds i was just fine? i asked my family to hold my 3ds xl some of them said they felt some kinda static feeling when they held the circle pad.

the way i'm holding it: thumbs on the circle pad and buttons, index fingers resting behind l and r and the rest supporting the 3ds (i have them below) i've also been sitting normally on a chair while playing

actually it's just touching the 3ds that makes my hand feel weird, not even holding it

If this is still a problem, please visit a doctor to get checked on. OnO I'm sure its nothing serious, but take a break from using your XL for now

If you've only really started using it recently it could just be that you're not used to playing/using it. The amount of time you're playing could also have something to do with it but I dunno how long you do.

Or the way you're holding it when you play. I'm referring more to how you're arms/hands are supported when you hold it rather than "I put my thumb on the circle pad" (I think we knew that).

Or the game. This doesn't seem to apply to you but when I played Metroid Prime Hunters I would get terrible pain within about 30 minutes simply because the game demands you hold/play it in an irregular position that usual.

i mean, it's not only recently. i am used to it as i've had it for a few years..... i just started playing more again recently, is what i mean.

sometimes i rest my arms on my desk when i play or on my lap? so i guess i only bend my arms slightly

but it's even just touching the 3ds that makes my hand feels weird.......i don't even have to hold it, really

i really don't think it's me but rather the device itself
maybe the skin on my hand is too sensitive idk

it's after i plug my charger in it feels weird

idk i've been trying to play today and at first, no problem! it was only until after i dropped it, got home and put the charger in

i feel super fried right now

Sounds like you broke your 3DS dropping it, test it without the charger, if it?s a permanent problem you should send it in or take it to the shop where you bought it to have it repaired. Good luck!

i wasn't the one who bought it and i'm not sure if the shop is there anymore. i don't even know the name of the shop
i dropped it on the side and it wasn't high up either though
this is just really weird cause with my 3ds xl nothing happened and it felt the same way? sent it in but they said nothing was wrong with it so i couldn't get my money back either and it's honestly just sitting there unused

I know a lot of people have already responded, but I found that buying a comfort grip for my device made a huge difference for my hands. I picked one up for $20 on amazon and it has been worth every penny. There are a variety of styles to look at and you could pick one that hopefully addressed your issue.

Good luck!

I play with my ds on my bed or table and it's usually always in its folded position as Im scared of bending it too much.

If it's only when you're charging, some electricity might be leaking out and causing some discomfort/pain?
