so, uh, i started playing acnl in late december 2014. so i haven't had an acnl halloween yet. i hope it's okay for me to ask questions here (i'm still pretty new to the forums, sorry!!)

  • does the day start out normally? or are villagers trick-or-treating right away?
  • if it does start out nornally, when do they start trick-or-treating?
  • does anyone know if this chart is accurate? i've used it to record all my villagers' fears (except zucker, because i didn't have him yet when i wrote the stuff down) so i want to make sure i'm not wearing the wrong mask when i go in their houses
  • do i need ten pieces of candy, since i have ten villagers? or do i need more?
  • i heard in other games (acnl's my first ac game please don't hate me) you have to find out which pumpkin head is jack, is it like that in acnl?
  • if so, do you get anything for finding jack?
  • is the creepy skeleton reorderable? (kinda irrelevant, but i think you can get the creepy skeleton on halloween, i believe, so yeah)

sorry for asking so many questions! and sorry if this is in the wrong place! ^^' i'll post more questions if i think of any!

It's more than okay to ask any questions! :) So to answer them, from my understanding:

  • The day will start out normally, so villagers won't start trick-or-treating until 6pm (and from there they will go on until midnight).
  • I'm not entirely sure which chart you're referring to, but assuming it's this, that's the one I've been using and I haven't had any problems.
  • There's no set amount of candies required, for example I've started trick-or-treating without any whatsoever and won myself enough candies to win a fair amount of goodies from Jack (while the games are quite easy, the rock-paper-scissors game still uses RNG, so it's good to carry a few if you don't want to be 'tricked', ie having a pumpkin head put on you or having random 'garbage' items shoved into your inventory).
  • As far as I know, there's no mini-game involving finding out who the real Jack is; only that you trade candies you've won for either Halloween themed furniture/masks for Halloween.
  • Unfortunately the Creepy Skeleton is not re-orderable, what you can do is perhaps keep trading any candies you've won with Jack and hopefully he can give you multiples.

Hope that answers all of your questions! :D

It's always okay to ask questions!

The day is normal. The fun begins at 6:00 and goes until midnight, I believe. What chart are you talking about? The villagers will be walking around outside with pumpkin heads on. They'll run up to you: Trick-or-treat! If you give a piece of candy, they'll give you a hint about what another villager is afraid of. If you choose a trick, they'll play a game with you. If you win the game, you get their candy. If you lose, they'll turn a piece of your clothing into rags. Be sure to wear ugly clothes you don't care about! Once you're in rags, be sure you're not wearing a hat, because then the trick will be a pumpkin head that's the same color they're wearing. You'll have to find Jack, who is walking around town. He'll ask you for candy. Give him a regular candy for a mask or Spooky furniture. (Once in a while, he might give you the Creepy furniture instead.) A lollipop will get you some Creepy furniture. You'll get a lollipop when you go into a villager's house, wearing a costume that scares them. You can only get one lollipop per villager. None of the Creepy furniture is orderable.

Hope that helps! Halloween is so much fun! :)

i'm so sorry! i meant to link to the chart but i forgot!! i'll do it right now!

here is the basic info about haloween:

General Info
Throughout October, candy is stocked and sold in Tom Nook's Store taking the place of either tools or flowers. There are four types of candy, but Tom Nook's only sells orange. During the 31st when Jack appears in the town, villagers and Mayor Tortimer will wear a pumpkin head. Villagers will chase the player and demand candy, with the outcome depending on the game in question. In contrast Jack will not chase the player and will not forcefully speak to the player. Giving candy or lollipops (New Leaf) to Jack is the only way to obtain pieces of the Creepy Series (New Leaf) or Spooky Series (other games, though he will give this in New Leaf for candy only). After receiving an item Jack will disappear and teleport to another random square and the process repeats.

As any inventory item in the player's pockets will be transformed regardless of value, it is recommended to store rare furniture, clothing and other items in a drawer, keep them in letters, or drop them on the floor to avoid their transformation.

The usual music changes to the halloween theme, and rain and clouds will not spawn during the event.

Similar to Animal Crossing: City Folk, only some villagers are out at any one time during Halloween, while the ones remaining in their homes have to be scared by wearing the mask of something they are afraid of. These masks are sold throughout October at Able Sisters for 1,031 Bells. Villagers who are outside chase the player on sight, when caught, the player is given the choice of either handing over candy or being tricked.

If the candy option is chosen, the villager will take one of the player's candy in exchange for hints at what other villagers are scared of; if the trick option is chosen, the player has to play a game of charades or rock-paper-scissors. If won, the player receives candy, if lost a random carpet/wallpaper, furniture or clothing item (both worn and inside pockets) will be replaced with old flooring/wall, Jack-o'-Lantern/Jack-in-the-Box or patched clothing respectively. After the trick selection, villagers will occasionally give out the pumpkin mask they are wearing in place of the previous options, but only if this equivalent space on the player is not occupied. There are a total of four unique pumpkin masks to collect during the event, not including the one obtained by Jack detailed below.

Successfully scaring the villagers inside their homes rewards lollipops instead of candy. These are currency for trading exclusive Creepy Set furniture with Jack. Giving Jack candy will most often net the player pieces of the Spooky Series (which can also can be purchased from Nookling Stores), though there is a slight chance the player can also receive a piece of the Creepy Set or one of the Able Sister's Masks this way as well. If the player has no candy or any mask or hat, Jack will give the default orange pumpkin head apparel.

That is about everything :)

I missed out on Halloween this year :(. Anyway, Halloween starts at 6:00pm and ends at midnight and it's always nice to have extra candy!
