Hacking

What are your thoughts on hacking the game to put stuff where its not supposed to be and stuff? Do you think it's wrong or don't you care? I'm curious!

I dont do it but I dont care what people do to their own towns, as long as they dont pretend they did it all themselves "by hand."

as long as they aren't using it to hurt anyone i don't care. it can actually make towns really beautiful. like bamboo in the water, i've always liked bamboo in the water.

I hate it when people hack to get items and money, but to do it to decorate your town is pretty cool.

I don't really care if other people choose to do it. I, however, wouldn't. It would take the fun out of the game for me.

I think it's fun to see what other things you can do to the game, especially if you know what you're doing. I'm too scared to try, and my DS firmware is too high, but I'd love to have trees in different places, or PWPs in the water, etc. I like playing my town the slow and natural way, but I'd one day like to see what cool stuff I could dream up

some hacked towns are really cool, i like the creative stuff you can do with it.

powersaves and other editing tools are completely fine and can be used to help other people like when someone clones villagers and gives them away for free so others wont have to pay a disgustingly high price for them

I do it to an extent. Like how bushes have a connection limit, I hacked to get more in without them dying. I don't have a problem with it, but I don't like it when people hack in items to make a profit.

I do think using a powersave is good when it comes to creating a save file for your town that you can backup to. It helps you fix errors such as a dreamie moving out.

I also move PWP to where I ACTUALLY want them. While it takes away the essence of you get what you get and you don't throw a fit, I like my town really nice and organized. I move the houses too, so there's more space.

I think certain aspects of hacking are really good and honestly should be in the game without hacking, in my opinion.

Like being able to place PWP in very certain areas, similar to the function of HHD.
Also placing certain plants in the water, or having at least plants that you can put in the water, because I personally love that aesthetic look.

Certain towns that are hacked do it really good. They look so nice.
I don't personally think there is anything wrong with it from a moral standpoint, a lot of people are really nice with it on other sites that allow giving away hacked items, and will give away full sets of furniture, rare items, dream villagers even.
A lot of times they do this for free, too.

The only time I think it's bad, is when people do things that can harm your game if you visit your town.
I don't know what those things are but I've read that there are certain things that can mess up your game if you visit a town with certain hacks.
Or when they aren't honest about giving away hacked items. Some people want legit items and that's fine, but don't lie to them.
Those are the only real things I would consider "wrong" when it comes to hacking.

Every other aspect that I am aware of when it comes to hacking, I think is really nice.

Ehh, it's helpful to relocate things and to make a nice town and get the stuff you absolutely need. Some hacked towns look amazing and cool, and there's some that you wouldn't even know have been hacked. And then there's the towns that you know a child hacked because they're complete chaos. But whatever, anyone can play the game however they like, so... yeah.

I mean, honestly, I don't care too much about whether people hack stuff or not, but I have to say if people do it to get all the items available in the game then start selling things in the forum it's a little unfair and you kind of have to wonder how the game could even be of interest to them anymore because isn't most of the fun in games the challenge to complete challenges and tasks. I mean sure you could enjoy the decorating bit, but this particular game is so limited that there would still be too little to keep ones interest very long if you just hacked everything all the time. I can kind of understand on the beautifying your town bit because I'm very particular about things like that, but still it just seems a bit pointless to me since it takes some of the fun out of it.

it is your town do what you want with it...

as long as you are not making profit
from hacking it is fine.... and not
selling the hacked villagers/items
because that is not cool...or to me
anyway...

but giving hacked items/villagers
away for free however is fine
to me...^^
