ah, the infamous hacked town. the ones in new leaf had four leaf clovers, the zen pwps, and a bunch of stuff in the rivers.

how come we don’t see this anymore? putting random bushes in rivers, and hackers going to the extent to make a town that they love instead of putting sharks on trees. is it impossible? or is it outdated?

honestly, i would love to see a throwback town in new horizons that resembled the typical hacked town in new leaf rather than a standard cottage core with all of the typical villagers :/

I've seen some videos of people breaking boundaries and walking in water and in the sky, so maybe it's just a matter of time! There's also those star fragment trees, etc

i feel like it's a combination of ppl testing what they can do w/ hacking so it's not as noticeable/prevalent yet and the fact that many of the features ppl hacked for are now available in acnh. like, u can move ur buildings (excluding resident services) whenever u want; there are more avenues for finding villagers out and about now; u could technically put bushes in water by terraforming some land and putting a bush on it. it's also easier to make ur ideas come to life within acnh's limits compared to acnl; like i said u can move villagers' homes whenever u want if u came up with an idea for a spot but in acnl u had to either hack or just let that villager go.

i also agree with Khaelis that ppl may not be hacking as much bc the punishment for being caught hacking is worse imo (i dont recall if there ever was punishment for being caught hacking on the 3ds, tho).

Hacking on the 3DS usually involved using an exploit in the built-in web browser to send your save data off to a webpage, where it could then be edited. I never did much with it except change my train station colour, and it worked like a charm.

Nintendo does/did ban hacked 3DS systems from using their online services, which makes sense from all sorts of perspectives (take security for example: they want full control over how people access their servers and that is entirely reasonable). But since New Leaf didn't require you to alter your system, it was a low risk/high reward sort of thing, as we didn't have as many other options to beautify our towns.

With New Horizons, you would need to mess with your actual Switch system. This immediately puts it at risk. And since we can already do so much to decorate, the benefits aren't all that great, and the only people we see doing it are the ones that like messing with software in general. The kinds of people that like to push boundaries, and prefer shark trees over weird decorating tricks. :)

I dont hack or would not want to edit my switch to do so either, I mean to each their own on what they do with their system Besides with New horizions you can almost have the perfect island cept for airport color which is random unless found out not to be.

I've seen people post pictures of the 'hacked' item trees, trees that have stars on them, or all sorts of nutty stuff.
But i've not seen anything too extreme.

However, a friend of mine who had previously hacked her switch for pokemon (She changed her Bicycle out for a Mercedes model) hacked her town for her birthday and had turnip prices at 4200 per 'nip.
Which was frankly INSANE, so theres absolutely stupid hacks and exploits.

But as for making "Extreme islands" i've not seen much of that yet.

BUT, the game is not even 6 months old, theres still people learning how to hack, exploit, and 'break' the game in ways it was'nt meant to be played.
So i'm sure we'll see more insane and crazy 'hax' as time goes on.

we might see a new design type of hacked islands once hacking your switch is not as risky as hacking a wii or a 3DS , maybe in the next 3 years

One Twitch streamer plane and entrance was on the grass. I left because it was one of those giveaway stream that pop up a lot now. The streamer doesn't play and subs get invited in first for high turnip prices and other things.

Maybe it's not as easy on the switch. I agree though, it's definitely weird to not see them around much. Maybe in another year there will be more available.

in new leaf there were a lot of hackers and it was relatively easy to hack so the Aesthetic people did it, now it’s harder and riskier to hack and idk if there’s such a thing as the island design thing. most likely there will be more hacked islands as time goes by
