So,

have you noticed that Gwen is chronically confused about the gender of her fellow villagers? Especially when she's regifting gifts.

Firstly, Pashmina:

Secondly, Agnes:

And lastly, Pashmina again!

Have you noticed that with any other villagers?

it's not just gwen. uchi villagers are sometimes referred to with he/him pronouns and for some reason it seems to only be that one bit of dialogue.
it's most likely a translation error.

and i think normal villagers are the only ones who do it, because that's normal villager dialogue

Pecan did the SAME thing before she moved, except she mixed up Pompom (a peppy villager) as a boy. Silly snooties.

really? i don't think i've seen a snooty villager do it before. do you remember what she said?

I had Mitzi in one of my old towns, and she moved from my friend Lauren's town. Sometimes she'd call Lauren a boy, like when she'd say the thing like "in my old town I had a neighbor named Lauren! He was a real bell pincher" or something like that. The only gender confusion I've witnessed regarding other villagers is (usually Uchis) using they/them pronouns for other villagers.

I know, right? I mean, I'm not a native speaker of English, but I know that you can use "they", if you're referring to someone whose gender is unknown. Still, it baffles me that some villagers wouldn't know whether their next door neighbour is male or female... xD

Here's what she said. It's practically a copy of OP's pic, except with Pecan instead of Gwen.

oh, maybe i was wrong and it's a snooty villager's dialogue.

i guess it's just the dialogue itself and not the personality of the villager they're talking about, although i guess uchi is the default and if the uchi isn't in town it's just a different villager.

yaaa I noticed this. I was so confused, "Deirdre isn't a he...? have I gone mad? or is Coco crazy?"
definitely a translation error.
though I like to make up lil scenarios and backgrounds for my characters so I just decided to pretend that Coco is a dick and refuses to accept Deirdre's female gender identity

i do that too lol...i actually see it as my villagers occasionally using different pronouns. this always happens with uchi villagers so i really only apply this to tammy and sylvia (they're the only uchis who've lived in my town).

ahhhhh! Tammy is so adorable. lucky youuu

It doesn't help that Uchis are more of a tomboyish personality as well. The original dialogue probably had a gender neutral pronoun, but the translators probably thought it was a male pronoun and used it.

Is this the only line of dialogue that they refer to Uchi villagers as "he/him"? If so then it was definitely an overlooked error.

This is pretty much a glitch in the coding. Although maybe it's intended purposely, since i've seen a lot of snooty villagers do that when referring to uchi villagers and uchi villagers are pretty tomboyish, so it's no wonder snooty's might be mean like that and refer to them as a guy since they don't seem to get along very well with them. As far as I know though, it's an error with the translation/coding and uchi villagers are pretty buggy in general. I've seen this happen quite a few times though and i've found it funny. Especially when it's a villager I don't like.
