So, my tt'ing town, which I am finally working on upgrading, got the T. I. Y store at last. I've been waiting for Gracie to show up, but I never see her.

Is there something else I should be doing?

How long did you have to wait after you got the store upgrade before Gracie started coming to your town?

And did you store a lot of clothing in your locker, or did you wait until she showed up and then post a thread to get the outfits you needed? If you posted a thread, did you get response? Were you able to pass the fashion checks easily, or did it take a lot of tries?

It's been so long since I went through all this in my first town, that I really don't remember much except that I was so glad to finally get her store!

Any tips or hints people could give me would be much appreciated! Thanks you very much in advance!

If you have the mannequins the Sable Sisters gave you, you should be able to hold up to 3 different types of outfits. The rest could be stored up in your closet or worn on your character.

So I'm guessing you stored outfits ahead rather than trying to buy them once she showed up. I haven't really got much stored up, I was trying to get my town cleared out. I guess maybe I should start doing that, but I hate to have even more stuff to store and take up place.

When Gracie shows up all you have to do is order a set of clothes from your catalogue and complete your fashion check after 5PM. I do half and half. I find Flashy/Rock'n'Roll an uncommon appearance in Sables, so I store those guys on the mannequins (saving you 3 outfits). If it's cute/basic, then I'll just buy it through Sables (that, or through Nook's catalog). I think the ones you should most worry about are ones with multiples of fail combinations (particularly Official since it has 3 theme clashes). If you don't want to store items in your closet, you could also put them in your letters and save your letters in the postal office. That, or use the museum, secondary characters, etc.

That's right, lol. Mail call is 2 times a day, 9am and 5pm. If you don't get things in before those hours, you will have to wait until the next delivery.

No problem.

You can mix and match themes and be okay, like 4 items Cute, and 2 items Flashy if main theme is "Cute".

Sorry, I don't know when she appear (still having a hard time figuring out about other special visitors myself). I'm positive she's there before 5pm since I make use of the catalog. xD

I only store outfits in the closet that are non-reorderable or that I really like and wear a lot.

To get Gracie to even start showing up, you have to have spent 70k at the Nooklings store and the final upgrade won't happen until you have passed all 4 fashion checks AND spent 100k at the Nooklings store. You are so right, @ J087! I just wasn't paying attention. :/ But I am super glad to know that. I remember having clothes spread out all over my town in groups of themes, and having to leave it there for a month and a half (didn't get a couple of them right the first time) which totally drove me nuts.

@cheezu - you can be sure that I will remember about the mail times after this, lol! It will come in handy for a lot of things. Sometimes I have someone in boxes who won't be picked up for a while, but want to order something from my catalogue. Now I can! My main town is frozen in time for the foreseeable future, so I thought I would never be able to order things from my almost full catalogue there. And now -Hip hip hooray! I can order my Dlc's again!!!


I am so grateful to everybody's help and advice, it should be so much easier this time around!
Plus I can now use my main town to order things again, which is WONDERFUL!!!

Today, Gracie appeared in my town for the second time! (With a little help from tt'ing, obviously.)
Because of all the good advice I got from every on this thread, I was able to pass the fashion check both times! Thank you so much, everyone! Only two more checks to go.

And I didn't have to spread clothes all over the ground and loose my newly acquired perfect town status. So I can keep working toward the 14 day payoff for that, too.

You need to spend at least 70k for your TIY for her to show up and is completely random day (Yea I am lucky to see her 3 times in just 2 weeks) She will also stay at your plaza from 6am to next 6am =D

I started spending a million on a crown a week and ended up with Gracie all four times in 23 days, including today after she was here on Saturday! That was just nuts, and no TT involved. If anyone is waiting for her (and in my first town, I went three months or more before getting the Emporium AFTER she started showing up), blow money on crowns. It's a lot, but it was totally worth it to me.

It's great hearing how different people do things - it gives me so many ideas of what to do. I really had a hard time getting Gracie's in my first town, I didn't know what I was doing at all. Blew it completely a couple of times, and also took forever to get her to come back. It's so much easier this time, with all the help from everyone.

Oh, and I just skimmed this thread, but when Gracie shows up, do ALL your fashion checks one right after the other or else you'll end up waiting 2 months like I did once. >_<

Pass her check, SAVE your game, then restart and set it at 5:59 AM and do it again. Rinse and repeat. You'll save yourself SO much angst!

Okay, okay...it's a cheat...but I recommend it because after the first time nearly getting an ulcer when I read that tip I saved myself so much agony for my next towns.
