Good tips to catching "speedy" sea creatures?

You hate to see a sea creature that runs so fast away from you that you can't dive for it that fast. It can take 5-10 mins or even more to finally catch that sucker.
Any tips that can help catch that "speedy" sea creatures?

I just caught a snow crab which was super fast. I kinda trapped at the corner of the barrier and finally caught it. It can take a few tries.

This - to elaborate, you don’t want to mash a. Just get as close as you can without it, and then dive when you’re right on top. Things like giant isopods took me 5-10 minutes before this, now they take 1-2 tries, so less than 30 seconds.
