A few days ago I told Elvis he was free to go because he kept asking. Yesterday his boxes were packed and he was ready to go. Today he's...still in boxes?? I thought it was just some normal moving protocol that I happened to have missed, but I tt'd one day forward because I need to free up his plot, and he's still here, in boxes. Between yesterday, today, and the tt forward, he's spent the last 3 days in boxes, which I'm sure by now is not normal, because Isabelle announced each time it was his last day on the island, only for him to be here one more day. I'm gonna try to force him out by amiibo and see if it does anything, he can't stay here.

Huh... that's a weird glitch.

IDK if an Amiibo will work since he's supposedly in the process of moving. Maybe if someone came to your island and asked him to move to theirs he might leave? My understanding is that when someone does that they almost immediately disappear.

I want to try that, but I also don't want to potentially curse anyone with a glitched villager. :(

This bug has been reported before. Did you happen to have a camper forced move out on the day that Elvis was in boxes? I've heard that this bug can occur if two villagers are in boxes at the same time (generally, the villager who naturally asked to move out sticks around).

I've heard that some people have had success by getting someone to adopt the stuck villager can refresh the moving out process. It shouldn't result in a glitched villager; those bugs should have been patched as of April. This bug is more of an issue with the moving out process on the "host" island and not something that's related to the moving in process on a "visitor's" island. If that doesn't work, then I've also heard of some people using Amiibo to select the stuck villager and also refresh the moving out process. I'm not sure if a natural RNG camper can select the stuck villager.

Good point... though, I mean, I doubt the villager himself is "cursed". I think there's a good chance it's just a fluke of a glitch, and that he'll probably function perfectly normally if someone else takes him. And, even if they have trouble getting him out, if it works they can just have someone else take him for awhile- maybe he could end up passed around the site or something 😆

Ah ok! Thank you! And yeah I had a ton of amiibo campers move in and out recently because of trades. I'm gonna try the amiibo way first, since that's the easiest for me. If that doesn't work, I'll see if I can get someone to adopt him so he can go.

Yeah, it sounds like it's a typical case of this bug, then; two villagers moving out at once. The game really doesn't handle it well. In another example, if you have a villager ask to move out on the same day that you have a camper force out a different villager (as opposed to two being in boxes on the same day), then the villager who asks to move out isn't in boxes the following day; they just "forget" that they're meant to move.

If Amiibo is easiest, then I'd definitely recommend giving that a shot first. I'm not sure if I've heard of anyone saying that the Amiibo didn't work to fix this bug, so I'm hoping for the best.
