Don't you ever got a conversation with a uchi villager who had interest in a item being it clothing or furniture and you had the option to sell it for them and give the item for free?
I think that option could work better for normal villagers.
Besides, sometimes we just want to clear space and not really in the mood to sell certain item or throw in the trashbin.
