Yeah, I've had some of my villagers display clothing so I've mostly stopped giving it unless it really fit them.Maybe stick to clothing items, unless you're wanting to have them add certain furniture pieces that match their interiors? Although, villagers will sometimes display clothing as well, so there's not much you can do about it.
Yeah I've been crafting some really neutral looking diys like coat hangers to give to some of my villagers but it can be tough thinking of something to give them.Maybe just give them things that would look good in the theme of their home? Anything you give them has a chance to be displayed, unfortunately.
The only gift you can give that they will 100% not display would be fruit I believe.![]()
Ah I had no idea they don't display fruit and eggs! Thanks for the suggestion!!I've been spamming fruit and eggs, since I have a bunch. I don't know if they ever display them but none of mine have so far.
Oh that's such a good idea!I asked this same question this morning as well and someone suggested giving them wreaths too along with fruit. They won't mess with their interior, but it'll be displayed on their door. A nice touch that won't ruin their home.
Haha they usually have tables and they put the flowers on the floor? Thanks for letting me know!stick with clothes, furniture that you think matches their theme or wreaths if you like how they look. i thought that giving them flowers would be cute but they just put the vase on the floor and it looks kinda dumb
Oh that's something to really consider! I didn't know they replace large pieces of furniture!I give fruit and eggs as temporary gifts, and choose clothes and items that suit their style/design.
Keep in mind that wreaths can end up on interior walls too, if that’s something that might clash with the other decor. Also, that bigger furniture might replace other pieces, and small items tend to shift things around in the house.
(Ex: I gave Flora a cute mirror, but now she’s staring right into the jewelry stand whenever she’s sitting at her desk)
Haha it definitely seems like it. Looks like I'll be sticking to fruit and eggs for now! Thanksi gave judy a cute pink frilly shirt and she wore it for a few days before displaying it in her house!
i gave skye a cactus furniture, and the next day she displayed it on her drawers and hasn't taken it down since
i would be very careful giving them anything in general that they can place, including fish / bugs, wreaths and clothes, as it seems that they'll take anything and put it in their houses if they can lol![]()
wait what? so say i put a limited gulliver moai statue next to their house. they can just steal it and put it inside? wtf?Oh! Also this:
Be careful what you place outside. It’s very rare, but they can actually pull things within a certain radius of their house to display inside!
Ex: Antonio now has a bicycle indoors lol
That's kind of a scary thought haha, I'd rather gift them stuffOh! Also this:

Yeah, I've mostly gifted items to my starter villagers since their houses were so bare. Now that I have new villagers though, I want to preserve their personality! The safest bet is clothing since they will keep changing it - though they do display it inside their house too at times.
I also found that my starters virtually had empty houses so I gave them some furniture to put inside.
I gave Hazel a drum set and an electric guitar.
I probably won't be giving the other villagers a lot of furniture though as I'm worried about ruining the interiors - my villagers' houses in New Leaf were effed up big time because I'd make them buy fossils.![]()
Wow displaying fossils in their homes must've changed it a lot! I'm really wary about making too many changes for some villagers, I might stick with fruit...The safest bet is clothing since they will keep changing it - though they do display it inside their house too at times.
