GUESS MY FAVOURITE ANIMAL!!!!!!

There will be a few hints, the first one being that it is not a cat.

All the guessers who guess correctly will be entered in a random draw in 5 hours.
Here are the hints:

1- they can grow up to around 16 inches

2- they can be kept as pets, but are sort of unusual

3- they can range in colours from browns, greys, oranges, blacks etc. and have a special defence techniques for scaring off predators

4- there is no animal crossing character that looks like this animal, but one that has some similarities.

5- I am not found in cold climates
