I'm actually quite upset,
I entered this competition and got second place,
I was asleep at the time the winners were announced so I couldn't claim my prize. Probably different time zones.
The next morning, I check to see the results and shock horror.
The prize was given to someone else just because I couldn't claim the prize in time.
I really think if someone wins, they should win. Just because they can't pick it up then, doesn't mean you give their prize to someone else.:(

Has something like this ever happened to someone?

I think that if you win a giveaway the host at least should reserve your price for 1 or 2 days, after that they can give it to someone else

I understand giving it to someone else if the winner doesn't log on for a week, but waiting for a day isn't going to do any harm, especially considering that there may indeed be an issue with time zones. The host should always make a point of being clear about pick ups as a general rule, so there's no confusion on anyone's end. That sucks though, I'm very sorry. D:

Yeah they should've waited longer really :/ it's not your fault you can't match their time zone anyway

no and I can understand if it was a villager from cycling that someone wanted to go on cycling but with a normal giveaway they should have waited I mean everyone knows there are people for a lot of diferent timezones on the forum

From the looks of it, there was nothing saying that she would consider holding it for you, so there really shouldn't be an expectation that the prize would be held for you.

Granted, it's a ****ty thing for her to do, but :/

Well, there was a recent thread concerning the conduct from that area of this site. It was about fairness. And I'm sorry you lost out in this way.

I can't say anything more than to try to encourage you to not give up. Forum members are consistently putting up for adoption very popular villagers.

This is true^

I agree that it was never said to be held back if offline, but i was kinda expecting that it would. People have held it back in the past for me:)

That sucks :/ they should have held the prize for at least a day.

that's really unfair
if it's a competition it should be different..
i understand if it was like a villager being sold or won because it has a time limit! if it's furniture surely that could be given at any time

I have a time limit for my giveaway, but I say that I wont hold it for you unless you give me notice. For example, one person PMed me saying that could I hold it for them if they won. Since they let me know, if they win I will hold it for them.

I do, however, openly announce that I will not hold things for you unless you give me notice before the ending date.
