so with that said, i do believe there's "things" that people believe they see.

i had a friend whose dad died, and this man watched TV day in and day out every day for the last 6 months of his life because he was totally unable to walk, and lived out the remaining life he had just sitting in his room. after he had died, she would hear the TV turn on, and turn louder and louder and louder until she had just totally unplug the thing.

she believes it was her dad... but i don't think so. anyone that ever has experiences like this, and believes that it must be a "good spirit" since they didn't "detect any evil energy" from it... ever heard that demons/evil things disguise themselves as a band of angels? think for a second - what IF there was a god, and the exact opposite, pure evil? would pure evil show it's true colors to try and make you doubt the existance of what you consider god? or would it copy things to make you doubt what you did once believe when you're most vulnerable?

to me, it wasn't her daddy turning the TV up. it was something trying to make her further her belief in that there is no explaination for life after death - which excludes god out of the equation, exactly what i believe whatever was messing with her was wanting.
Some ghosts aren't people at all but like a recording playing over and over created by the persons energy.

i thought this post was about our opinions... =)

you have yours, and i have mine.

i just hope you'll always be standing beside what you believe, no matter what happens during this life, or afterwards.

Well. It's hard to say if they are real or not but I think they are because I've had some experience with some spirits. Well... my family has lol.

Ive had a scary moment with what i thought was a ghost:

It was some random night, and i kept hearing taps on the window and high heels in the hallway right in front of me. Then i heard footsteps in my room. i was too scared to look.
Then i felt hot air like something was breathing on me and i was like WTH!??!

When i finally got too sleep i was releived

Every night from then on out i heard high heels

but ive moved now so im happy =D

Just tonight I was sitting on my chair at my desk getting ready to read a letter my friend from down the street sent me, (ya, we are to lazy to call each other), and I swore I heard someone or something breathing. Then, something touched my knee. I quickly moved and looked to see if anything was there.

Nothing but... nothing, lolwut, was there.

It was freaky.

I believe in ghosts. In fact, I've seen one. I was spending the night at my mom's friend's house. It was late, around 10 I think, and my brother and sister and my mom's friend's kids and I were playing outside. We were playing some sort of tag game. At one moment only my sister, my mom's friend's daughter, and I were outside. My brother had just went inside. We were just hanging around by the back door, and all of a sudden we see a man and a dog back towards the woods. Here, let me show you a crude Paint drawing of the scene:

The man was wearing a construction worker's clothes and he had a hardhat and a flashlight. The dog was walking in front of him, not on a leash. They were walking in the direction of the garage with the flashlight pointed that way. At first didn't say anything. Then the girl (not my sister) yelled, "Who are you? Get out of our yard!" or something like that. He didn't answer. Instead he and the dog kept walking, and they went behind the garage, out of our sight. We quickly ran up to the garage and looked where the man had went--he was gone. They were both gone. There was no light from the flashlight. There was no movement anywhere. They just vanished. The only explanation is that they were ghosts. Why were they there? What were they doing? I don't know, but it was freaky. Even freakier is that it happened on Friday the 13th. I don't believe the date had anything to do with it, but it made it a little more creepy.

Let me get this straight.

my brother told me something that happened to him when he was younger, in his teen years. back then (he's almost 40 now) in tennessee, where we're from, there were no horrible crime rates... a 14 year old girl could take a walk at midnight down a deserted road and the only care she'd need to worry about is getting a cold from it being too chilly. there were no rape rates climbing higher and higher... it was just peaceful.

so with that said, my brother and all of his buddies would get their tents and go way out into the woods and just camp out all weekend without ever contacting our mom and dad. one night when they were out, they were camping about halfway up this mountain in my city, way out in the middle of nowhere. they had never been in this part of the woods before, and went walking, just exploring the area, until they found a little road. there were very few houses on this particular road they had never seen before, and they were spread out maybe 1/4 of a mile apart. they found one that looked deserted, and being mischievous as they were, sneaked into the house through a very small window leading into the house's basement. my brother went through the window because he was the smallest, and opened the front doors for the rest of his friends. there was a main front door, and a small thin glass door that many houses in the south have. these doors usually have a tiny little lever you push to be able to push the door open, and if you let the door go after you open it, it has a little device at the top of the door that condenses the air inside of it and lets it out slowly for the door to shut without breaking. i'm sure many of you didn't need that explaination... but i'm also sure some did, lol.

when they got down there t o thebasement, which were the first rooms they checked out, my brother says the first feeling he got was just sickening. like he wasn't supposed to be here, he had no business messing with this place... and being the teenager he was, he was no stranger to doing naughty things. this was something out of the ordinary.

they were walking around in the basement, and he said that the strangest thing about this house that he remembered was in this room, there was a suspended metal platform with a mattress on top of it. so what it looked like was 4 chains hanging from the ceiling supporting a metal slab that could swing... with a mattress on this slab. he said there were blood stains on the mattress - all over it.

as they were looking around, the main thing they were looking for was moonshine. this house looked like it had been abandoned years earlier, and sometimes men would hide their moonshine stashes in the basements of these old houses. (for those that don't know what moonshine is, it's the absolute strongest alcohol you can find/make - people began making moonshine in the revolutionary time period when alcohol was illegal. they would put the ingredients in a large bottle, and bury the bottle with just the top sticking out. after months/years, it would be unburied and ready to drink).

after they realized there was no moonshine, they found stairs leading up to the main floor. at this point, everyone but his best friend he was with split up. they all had flashlights except this one guy. he was staying with my brother, who was carrying a flashlight and using it for both of them to see where they were going.

after being in the house for a while, my brother and his friend decided to go down a hallway that no one else had been down yet - it was a hallway that went on for a good ways, and had rooms on both sides very evenly. all of the doors were closed, and they were going down and opening the doors on the side of the hallway that they were walking down.

the paranoia of being caught had worn off by now - now they were paying no mind to how loud they were speaking, and were just having a good time checking out this old house that it looked like no one had stepped foot inside in a decade. opening doors... looking inside for a few seconds to see whatever there was to see, and moving on...

until my brother said when he touched one doorknob, it felt sort of like how you feel if you touch something with an electric surge in it. his hand tingled, and he just had this feeling that made his stomach churn. when he tells me this story, he repeats how he just knew should not open this door. his friend behind him was getting annoyed at the fact that my brother was stalling at this door... so he took the liberty of opening it for him.

in front of them was a staircase leading up to what they assumed was an attic. my brother's flashlight was shining at the bottom few steps... and he said it was like time had stopped. then there were footsteps coming down the stairs - ANGRY footsteps. he never saw anything - he only heard whatever it was. it began coming down slowly at first, but then it was like whatever it was went into a rage and came down the stairs like it was after them.

when the footsteps began getting close to the light, my brother said he just knew... to turn off that light. he said he didn't even really consciously think to turn it off - his left hand just reached over and clicked the off button, while he was staring at the bottom of the steps waiting for whatever was coming to come into view.

then it stopped, and he was alone. he was scared out of his mind, but it was quiet - for a split second until he heard a scream that sounded like it wasn't even human. he didn't know what this scream was from, but he went towards it, because it was coming from the direction the rest of his friends were in. he found everyone else staring with their mouths open at the front door, that looked like it had been broken down, literally. and it was. there was blood everywhere.

apparently, my brother only heard what his friend actually saw. the scream was from his friend chopping through the protective glass door with his forearm. whatever he saw made him so terrified that it was too much work to actually push the tiny lever to be able to open the door... he went THROUGH this door to get away from whatever he saw.

this guy ran for about 4 hours straight from where they were, back to camp, and all the way back to his house. when everyone eventually caught up with him, the only thing he would say was,"for the rest of our lives... i want no questions about what just happened... no one is going to know where we were, or how my arm got like this. we'll say a bobcat attacked us... just do not ever ask me what i saw in that house."

and to this day, my brother has never brought it up, and neither has his friend - the one thing that he has told my brother is that whatever he saw was the reason he devoted his life to being a minister at a local church.

what i feel about what my brother went through is i will never go looking for anything... whether it be me just looking through some old house that i get a bad feeling about, or making tape recordings of places where things have happened, or playing with an ouija board.

if you find something that you may think you want to find, you're probably going to wish you hadn't.

Well I think that the diagram was good...
It helped the story so yeah give him a break, he didn't do anything bad.

I really don't think ghosts can be seen or affect this world in any way.... except may be dreams...

you can convince yourself that you saw something abnormal if you want it enough though. Heck there are people out there who think they married and alien, saw bigfoot, had demon babies, and blah blah blah. There are a million ridiculous things that people think they see that really they haven't. heck when I was little I could have sworn I saw the ghost of Frankenstein one night :-p It was really just an afterimage though that dissipated after a second.

I truthfully believe in ghosts, thanks to A Haunting and other creepy but yet interesting shows.
I love those shows, ever seen ghost hunters?

@Sporge: That's what happened to my dad when he was young, he saw Frankenstein the movie without his parents permission (back then it was scary) and when he went to bed, he thought he saw frankenstein on his desk just staring at him, but finally when he got up, he saw it was just his imagination.

M sister's friend was in a nursing home one time and while she was in the hall, a skinny white (as in the color, like paper white) person crawled out of the doorway and whispered "Help Me..." and then she ran to her mom who just turned around the hall, and he was gone.

I've had my experience with something, but I'd rather not bring religion into this, k?

I do believe in ghosts, but not in the way everyone depicts them. May I put a religious view point in? Please don't flame me.

I once saw a demon when i was very little, I don't doubt it was there because it never went away. Back when i was in 2nd grade (around 6-7ish) I was trying to go to sleep in my bed when on the top of my dresser i (think i see, cant remember all the details) this black figure with evil red eyes, and a big wide Evil yellow smile. I tried ignoring it for a while, but I was still scared to death.

My Parents heard me talking to myself around 1:00am still unable to go to sleep, and they came and got me and brought me to their bed. As I first layed down, i looked to see if it had gone away. Turns out when my Parents entered my room, the thing seemed to just vanish.

Even with my parents I was still scared out of my wits enough to not fall asleep as easily. I tried going to sleep without looking around me, and finally I heard a noise after my parents were both asleep.

It was the shadowy figure squatting ontop of the large chest of drawers in my Parents room. Staring into it's eyes definitely freaked me out quite a bit...but what was even worse is that it never changed from that evil smile, and never stopped looking at me. Even though my parents had turned on a Bright Night Light on before they went to sleep, I could still see it, and I knew it was not fake. I finally fell asleep by turning away from it and burying my head into my pillow.

In the Morning the thing was gone, and the bright night light we had left on inside the room was still on...but the thing was not.

One time, when I was 10, My dad came in to check on me, and then walked away. This man dressed in black with a red tie and red eyes walked into my doorway. He leaned against it and laughed. I tried to scream but my voice was gone. He said, "It's me!" and I thought something in my head and he said "I'll be back." But then he snarled at me and disappeared. This was no dream.
