getting villagers to change shirts?

Julian is wearing a really ugly shirt and i want him to wear this tuxedo I got him. Is there a surefire way to get villagers to wear the shirts you send em?

No. There is no a 'surefire' way but there is one which is easy and has a high chance of making Julian wear the shirt. Just set the time few minutes before 5pm. Like 4.48 pm. Send the mail first and wander around main street untill the clock strikes 5pm then go back to the town and see if julian ks wearing the desired shirt. If not, rinse and repeat.
