Hi, I know this has been posted about already, but I do have a question.

Ken randomly spawned in my town and I don't want him. I read that if I introduced myself and never talked to him again, in a week he'd ping and tell me he wants to move. WELL HE PINGED and I went to him and I think I had a tool and something went wrong and when I went to talk to him, it was a normal conversation! Curses!!

Do I have to go another week without talking to him now? Will he ping again in a week and ask to move?

Does attacking him with a net work? Also, I don't really understand time travel so I'm nervous to do it..... (unless someone can explain it to me!_

Any help is much appreciated!!
Thank you!!

(and if someone wants Ken, by all means, when he moves out - he's all yours!)

Befriending him is the best thing you can do if you don't like time traveling. Really :)

Don't ever hit him with the net or push him into pitfalls. That would make him stay stale on the friendship ladder and he won't ask to move. The higher a villager is in the friendship ladder, the most he will ping to leave.

If he pinged you wanting to tell you he was moving, he'll move out in about 5 days.

But if he pinged you for something else, like the person above said, befriending a villager is the best way to go about this. Do errands for them, talk to him, anything that'll boost your friendship with him...the better friends you are, the more likely he'll be to ask to move

Thank you! I might try this, I also don't know if I have the patience D: I want to really start fixing up my town and having him as a temporary is messing up my flow! I really appreciate the answer :)

So if he did ping and I missed it, can I ignore him again for another week to get him to ping me again? or can a guest/another player scoop him up without him being in boxes?

Thank you so much for the reply, based on what both you and altarium said, I think I may try befriending him! Sorry to ask you so many questions!! :)

You could try ignoring him for another week and see how it goes, but I think the quicker you begin working on your friendship with him, the better
Also, he can only be adopted when he is moving, and the day he is in boxes. I think I read somewhere that if someone from another town talks to a villager even when they're not in boxes, it creates a chance for them to move into the other players town...I can't confirm that though, so the best way to guarantee his adoption is to have someone talk to him whilst he's in boxes and ready to go.

Hope I helped c:

you really did!!! thank you so much, all my questions are now finally answered! :)

you can time travel 2 days in the future with isabelle clock, enter your town, save and quit, and come back to your regular town. Go and walk arround your town till someone ping you, if it is not about moving, you can talk to different villagers to know who wants to move, then look for him/her and if it is Ken, good, tell him the negative answer, like "good luck" or "good for you" or "bye". If it is another villager you want him/her to stay, just say "don't leave me" or something like that, and then repeat the process till Ken wants to move.

Some tips:

Time travel is dangerous for the perfect town score, because if you don't have the beautiful town ordenance, your flowers may wither and there may be weeds all over your town. So I recomend you to have the beautiful town ordenance active in order to avoid this.

Some villagers, may change their minds when they want to move, even when you say the good bye answer, so, try resetting the game, just press the home button and quit without save, enter your town again and wait till the villager ping you again to tell you he/she wants to move, keep trying till they give you the "thank you" answer, and then just wait till he/she leaves.

If you resett, keep in mind that your progress will be lost till the last time you saved, so, try to not do anything important that day, or save before you talk to Ken.

Another thing to consider is that it is borderline impossible to get a villager to move if they were the last villager to enter your town. I'm not sure if it's 100% impossible (I've heard a couple of reports of people saying they've managed it?) but I have literally never been pinged for a move by the most recent move-in. If the game isn't programmed not to allow it, it's at least programmed to make it extremely rare. Unfortunately, unless you move in another villager after Ken, it's highly unlikely that any of this advice about getting a villager to move is going to help you.

(If you do decide to TT, I would recommend only TTing one day at a time and actually talking to all of your villagers every day. Yes, it's slower and more tedious, but it seems to be the only method of TTing that doesn't involve any risk of losing villagers.)

so he pinged you and then he walked away because you were too slow?
then you just save and reload your game and he should ping you again.

Oh yes, forgot to mention this! Your latest villager will never move out, he will only move after another villager has.
