So I came across something today that really piqued my curiosity.

Here's a link: clicky

Basically, you sign up and choose a hospital in the Children's Miracle Network directory and hold event(s) where you just play video games and raise money for your selected hospital.

I am interested in doing this at some point, but I am not sure how exactly it works or how participants usually go about it. Do you have to stream it? Can you just record your gameplay and upload it (like a Let's Play?), or what?

Has anyone here done this sort of thing before?

That's actually really interesting.. I've heard of it, but I was never really sure what it was. I'd be interested in doing this, myself. c:

I don't normally peruse here, but in a search for answers there's an FAQ on how it works. Apparently you can stream it - but it's not required so presumably you can upload it - you can take breaks, you can break it up into two days, you can participate on a day other than their "national" gaming day, lol...

Sounds like most charities: Just do whatever works best for you to be able to contribute the most.

It's something I'm interested in doing as well, especially since it's for a good cause. I would think you would have to stream it unless all your donations will be local from friends, family, and others you know.

my boyfriend and friends participated in extra life this year. perhaps i could get him to come to the thread or shoot you a pm! it was really fun being our first year, we raised nearly our goal! :,) I think it has to be a 24hr live stream and donations made during (or before even??) is then used for the hospital of choice you signed up for.

Ok, cool. So it sounds like I can do it on my own and just upload videos when I can. It would pretty pretty easy to divide sessions into 1 hour segments each I suppose, possibly 2 or 3.

That would be pretty cool, thanks! :)

Hello, i'm Gracelia's BF and was asked to come here and chime in on the topic.

I see that you have a few questions about Extra Life? Well I can tell you that it is definitely an awesome organization. I personally completed my first event last year, managed to raise beyond what I expected during my 24-Hour Stream.

First off, the actual event itself is a 24-Hour stream or a marathon stream set on a particular day HOWEVER you may actually start your Extra Life fundraiser page now. I have mine set up but I still have to fill in some more information. You can also have a team as well, which I have one too.

As far as Extra Life 2015 is concerned, you can get even more information here!

It's a great charity and I am looking forward to doing it this year, if you have ANY questions feel free to ask me or PM or have Gracelia summon me.
