Ok so I'm looking for some advice on what to do about my current situation. I had deleted a good friend of mine, I had known her for about 5 years now and I met her on a game called YoWorld, she was like a mother to me for a while. But in the last few months, I had quit YoWorld and our relationship was just something fun we did on the game. I think it is time to move on and live my life because she is surrounded by her family and friends in real life and I realized that being a "yofamily" is just silly and weird" if you think about it right? we dont even know each other in real life. I don't know how to break this news to her. Should I just not talk to her again or explain why I choose to remove her from my life? What is the right thing to do?

Why can't you have online friends as well as your real life friends? It seems strange to just delete someone like that for no reason who has clearly been a good friend to you for a long time. It's not fair to her to just delete her without saying anything if she hasn't done anything wrong. Explain your reasoning, what you've done is cowardly and you've probably hurt her in the process.

Yea, I was just thinking that. he deserves an explaination to why we must go our seprate ways. I just don't want to hurt her feelings. But I am doing this for me and thats what matters. Sometimes its nessessary to make these choices.

Just tell them you're not playing 'YoWorld' anymore and that if they still wants to be friends outside of it that here's your contact information for xxx thing.

Or maybe they value the friendship but they don't see it happening outside the game. Well, give a salute and be on your way.

Or just forget about it. They'll probably forget sooner or later *shrug*

I just want to know how this conversation turns out to be honest.

"Listen, I have something to tell you. I don't want to be friends anymore. It's not you, it's me...We can still be acquaintances though!"

I realized that being a "yofamily" is just silly and weird" if you think about it right?

I don't know what a 'yofamily' is.

If it's anything like a guild though, I don't see how it's silly and weird.

A yofamily on the YoWorld game is when someone calls their best friend "mommy" and you are the yodaughter/yoson to them. I realized how silly and creepy that is so I decided to cut off those kind of people from my life. I mean you would be uncomfortable if your real life best friend was calling you daddy.

I think its best to just slowly lose contact, instead of just outright saying 'Look, its been fun and all, but I think we shouldn't be friends anymore'. To me, this comes off a little bitter (even for me). I've had this happen to friends irl, we did't outright say we weren't friends anymore, but after they moved we just slowly stopped talking. The friendship won't end on a sour note, it'll just end on a silent one.

I haven't been talking to her very much since last year. That would be the best idea, but I already sent her 3 messages all explaining my story

I dont think you should just cut her off like that. Explain to her how you feel. Exactly. If she doesnt understand and argues then delete her. But if she's generally someone you could see a future as friends with, keep her around!

I agree with EtchaSketch. I have a friend whose like an internet mom to me as well. I call her "momma" and everything. Even though our internet family died three years ago, that doesn't mean we can't be friends. Like a lot of people have been saying, talk to her about it. If she still wants to be friends, you don't have to leave her behind. Sometimes, friends do get distance, it's bound to happen. If you're true friends though, you should be able to pick up the pieces and continue on as friends!!
I hope I was a little helpful.

No that's terrible.
Everybody has feelings.
Honestly do anything but this.

Wouldn't call it terrible if OP is trying to avoid contact and this person is extra clingy

just quit. she doesnt need an explanation. if you feel like you're ok with leaving her, it's all good. its not up to her, its up to you.

She understands and its all good. I just don't see a relationship outside the game. Its just a thing we did on YoWorld.
