Soooooo...
Today I was using a different DS to play Animal Crossing with. But, I'd forgotten the time was completely different and accidentally time-traveled almost an entire year!
I saw my villager step out and yawn and realized what I had done. I started panicking!
But lo and behold, my flowers were fine... my villagers were all still there... and there was a new villager in town - and it was one of my absolute favorites!!
!...Party in place...!...!...!


There are good surprises and bad surprises in Animal Crossing, and we don't always talk about that crazy duality that keeps us on our toes! Anybody else have epic turnarounds like this?

I think the only such thing that's happened to me is, I accidentally TT'd out Beau, only to have Rosie move in pretty much smack on top of his old plot a couple days later!

Wow! I think that's better than my story!

I've had terrible things happen to me in the game before... Back in GC, I lost the entire memory card and all my favorite villagers! Or once I accidentally had Fang, my absolute BFF, move out because I didn't know I could convince him to stay...

There are lots of things to nag about.

But there are lots of things to party about!

There's a duality of good and bad that makes Animal Crossing that much more addictive. I'm still pushing for my favorite villagers today because I loved the ones I lost so much. I'm collecting even more because I remember when I accidentally didn't save for my awesome spotlight item. And I obsessively check turnip prices because I remember that one time I forgot to sell them... It's easy to loathe that duality because of how much it pains us when something bad happens.

Because we are crushed when we're disappointed, but we're rewarded when we hope! I think that's the feature that makes this game so universally appealing

Hehe I think the devastation/hope thing goes far deeper than just Animal Crossing, but I think it's a fitting microcosm for the random ups and downs of life. ^^

Which villagers did you lose and which are you trying to get? If I have any of them that I'm willing to part with I could give them to you. :3

I'm actually on an epic quest to befriend every single villager in game! So as a markable goal, I'm trying to get everyone to give me their pictures. I've only got 3, but I've only been at this about a week or so... So at this rate... I'll be done in 2 years. But there are a few I am especially excited to meet, and might possibly keep Like Felicity!

I've got lots of villager photos you can have! Unless your goal isn't just to get the photos but to actually befriend them. That's pretty cool. :3

Yeah, to befriend them The pictures are just an attainable marker for having done that! When I started poking about the villager lists and seeing how many really cool characters there are, I was too heartbroken to choose just 10, especially since I'd never met most of them! So I decided to choose all of them... ! Too many cool things I couldn't stand to miss out!
