Forget the coelacanth, HOW DO YOU CATCH A CHAR?? Also, awesomeness in my town. :]

So I read a couple of threads a week ago about catching the elusive coelacanth. The first day it rained in my town, I was able to catch three of them, no problem. But what has really been eluding me is the char! I read that they can be caught in the "waterfall" - but which one? The waterfall that feeds the river or the one that feeds the ocean? I've never seen any kind of fish swimming around near either one. Have any of you caught a char? How long did it take you?

Oh, and good news! Some of you may have seen my post about losing my town not once but TWICE to save data corruption. Today marks two weeks since I restarted and so far so good...and guess who just moved in yesterday?? Merengue! My first dreamie...I'm so happy. She was in my campsite and refused to move in when I asked her but I kept bugging her until she agreed to move in if I won a game of rock, paper, scissors. Woohoo!

I also found my char in the waterfall the goes into the ocean. I stood above it and dropped my line into the river and let it fall over the waterfall. The char was actually behind the waterfall, so I just let the bobber drift until I heard the fish biting at the line. I read about doing this over at gamefaqs, and it worked. The thing on gamefaqs said to just keep throwing your line into the river and letting it fall over and over until you catch one.

It was about 7:30am when I caught my char.

It can also be caught at the very base of the waterfall. It has to be where it dumps into the ocean, i think. And it doesn't have to be raining or snowing.

That's what I did. 'Cept I can't remember when it was. That was my last fish to catch in City Folk.

This is all true, but the lame part about it is the in-game description says they are NOT found in the ocean and are found well inland in rocks near waterfalls.

Chars are found in different places depending on the town. In some towns they are above the waterfall, in some they are below it. But they are the only fish that can appear in their respective location except for salmon and king salmon. (And trash).

I'm still trying to get Fauna to ping. 8'D Been trying to make friends with her to see if that will affect the move out but apparently nope. Also pretty sure you're going to be getting a tiny ninja deer because she had a ninja sword hidden in her drawer, sent me a white katana through the mail, and traded me a ninja shirt today.
