watching dogtooth for the second time right now. it's a very strange greek film. on netflix, i suggest you check it out if you havent seen it already :~)
Off topic, I took multiple film classes in college as block (filler or elective classes so-to-speak) examples being Russian Film, Music in Film and other such classes as Magic Realism in Literature and Japanese Culture, which strongly emphasized film. I'm tryin' my darndest to think of films from these classes I'd recommend but it's been years. I will say that a classic, non-foreign movie I'd recommend is 42nd Street. Great examples of music in film. If you have Netflix and a taste for the eccentric Lala Pepo: A Lot of People is a Korean slice of raunchy life that might interest you. A great german film I liked was Run Lola Run. Other just fun films include Shaolin Soccer (flippin' funny but my hubs doesn't agree), and if you're lucky enough to find them online the Russian films "No Mans Land" and "Underground" are AMAZING films. One is about a man trapped sitting on top of a live landmine that if he moves will detonate, and the other (underground) is about a large number of Russian refugees which are tricked into working in an underground sweatshop and fed dog food for years and are told the war outside is still raging when it had been over for almost a decade.
OH OHOHOHOHOHOOH and the movie I'd recommend highest of all is called "12". Russian film. Easy to find online. It's the film that the american version of "12 Angry Men" was based on only the Russian version is WAY WAYWYAYWYAYWYAYWYA better. Look into it!

I like watching foreign films, or really anything that isn't connected with Hollywood. For example I still often like to watch English language Canadian films. I'm sure I sound like a snob but, whatever. lol
I really enjoy Lukas Moodysson's work. Lilja 4-ever is one of the most memorable, tragic, and haunting films I've ever seen.
