For those who own their own island, do you have a second playable character? And why?

I've been contemplating making a second playable character on my island, mainly for storage reasons, and so I can decorate more than 1 house. Also so that with 10 villagers, my map would be an even number. Just wondering why else other people do.

Yes, originally I did it for more storage but it's also nice to have another house to decorate and take up an empty space on my island

Yes, also for storage (event items that you will not use often but still don't want to get rid of because you can’t reorder them) and to decorate when my 1st home is done. I also use it for the extra daily DIY and Gulivar/Red.

Yup! Second playable character is my boyfriend's I figured it would be nice to represent him in-game since we're living far apart at the moment!

I got a second character as I wanted a diner shack beside the beach. V useful for extra storage and diys

No, I had a second character at one point, but I ended up getting rid of them. I had plans on playing on that character more frequently, but I ended up never using it so I got rid of it. I might create another at some point, but I'm not sure what or where I would put their house if I did.

I have six.

It's all for story purposes though, and wanting to make my town more lively. One, for example, is the owner of an observatory since we're not getting that one anytime soon (or ever). Another is the laboratory/home of a scientist who came to the island to do research for the museum! It all makes sense it's just that I have no control whatsoever

as well as getting extras from redd/gulliver etc its also useful to have the extra 5 catalog orders if you're trying to do a lot of decorating

I do! I very rarely use him but when i do it's usually for redd - his main purpose is just so i could decorate his house as a b&b for aesthetic purposes

I have 2 more, because I wanted to decorate the 2 houses, a diner and a hotel. I don't use them for anything else

I just started a second player, with the main purpose to store turnips and duplicate NPCs. Didn't realize I'd have to pay for Nintendo Online again though.

Mine was for extra storage and to store duplicate DIYs but I've actually really enjoyed decorating it (it's going to be a hotel with a slightly dodgy art gallery in the basement). It's also good to get two goes at Redd, Gulliver etc and to get the extra DIYs from bottles and Celeste. I'm even considering a third one...

Yeah I made a second. I had a lot of ideas for an oc of mine. She's a stay-at-home mom so I thought she really would spend a lot of time playing AC. I had a lot of ideas for her house so I went ahead and made her. I don't play her a whole lot admittedly but its nice to sometimes. Usually when I've run out of stuff to do as myself or if I find a neat item I wanna put in her house right away.
