Flowers changing species?

Earlier today, I got a blue rose from someone to plant in my town, and put it right in front of my house. But when I turned my game back on, I found a white violet planted right where it used to be. No one's been in my town except me...

Is this a glitch anyone else has seen/can fill me in on?

The villagers plant flowers sometimes. On occasion they can plant their flower and it will replace the existing one.

Gah, seriously? The first blue rose I get, and some stupid villager PLANTS SOMETHING OVER IT?!?!

Now I'm pissed.

I've seen it happen unfortunately. :/

I can give you two blue roses for free if you like. I suggest leaving them on the beach and hybrid them there.

Whoa! I didn't know villagers could pick up flowers and put them in their house. I've only seen them planting them.
For the longest time I thought my hybrids were only producing "normal" flowers until I caught one of my villagers planting one right next to it... lol.
