Well, you're a little late on this.
Seriously, Nintendo? You are canceling the one shred of hope anyone has left for messaging? Flipnote 3D looked to be awesome, but now it's gone. Maybe NoA should take a class in the Internet to learn that's just the way it works. You cancel something to protect people? You are thanked with an angry mob.
Swapnote was never great, but Flipnote 3D would've been fabulous...
Well, did NoA go along with NoJ and NoE? If so, they seriously need to make their own decisions.
I don't think I'm going to miss Swapnote that much with Miiverse on 3DS. It's a shame that the NNID unification process doesn't merge my Wii U Friend List with the 3DS one.
What's irritate me the most in this incident, is how Nintendo appears to be "clueless" when its come to online. The fact that they want to protect their "family-friendly" image is a very superficial argument, as you can't really control the harsh, cynical bits of Internet without compromising everybody regardless on their maturity. And that happened because of a very few people who actually shared gross pictures. Couldn't Nintendo understand the basics of Internet sociality better than that?
What nintendo could do is have both services moderated like MiiVerse so nobody can do any of that stuff.
Also, I disagree with anyone who says NINTENDO needs to understand how THE INTERNET operates. Maybe YOU need to understand how NINTENDO operates instead. Nintendo is a video game company targeted towards a demographic of ALL AGES, one of the main ones being CHILDREN, and they will do anything to make sure children do not get exposed to anything inappropriate from any of their online services. In fact, since the internet is full of trolls, cyberbullies, hackers, predators, sexually explicit content and the like, I don't blame Nintendo for not being so quick to conform to this online gaming stuff.
Now, if you excuse me. I'm going to run away because I probably have signed my death sentence by posting this.
