Sorry if there is already a thread for this...

The latest Nintendo Direct shows off the previously unannounced Flipnote Studio 3D. Miyamoto stated in an interview published yesterday that the external animation studio behind the forthcoming Pikmin cartoon series used Flipnote Studio 3D to mock-up samples.

Start to stockpile your creative juices, as Nintendo has released first details on the new features of animation software Flipnote Studio 3D for Nintendo 3DS. To be released this summer as a free download on Nintendo eShop, Flipnote Studio 3D will give you the chance to devise 3D animated masterpieces with the simple aid of your Nintendo 3DS system. Check out the first details by watching the ‘Nintendo Direct Mini – Flipnote Studio 3D’ video on the Nintendo Direct website.

Flipnote Studio 3D follows up from Flipnote Studio on Nintendo DSi, furthering the concept of turning your Nintendo handheld console into an animation studio using your stylus to contrive simple or elaborate sketches, called Flipnotes. For those inspired by old-fashioned flip-pads which create the illusion of movement when flicked through, Flipnote Studio 3D is the virtual equivalent, but with the added benefit of 3D layering, and, as with the original Flipnote Studio, the ability to include audio and share your creations with the world.

The key aspect of the application is the ability to create Flipnotes in 3D by arranging three different layers, before adjusting the 3D depth to your desired level. To help illustrate your artistic master work and bring it to life, an increased number of colours will also be at your fingertips.

Flipnote Studio 3D will allow you to showcase your creativity to others, with the functionality to convert Flipnotes into AVI files making it easier to share animations online, allowing your friends a virtual exhibition! In addition, the application will boast its own online community services. Flipnote Gallery: Friends will be set up for animators to freely share Flipnotes amongst friends, while the introduction of a paid community service, Flipnote Gallery: World, will enable Flipnote users from across the globe to interact with each other’s works for a small monthly fee. A free trial for the first 30 days of use will be offered for this service, while Flipnote users who create Flipnotes that are highly rated by other users may receive their next month’s subscription for free.

You have to pay for Flipnote now?

Not happening, Nintendo.

Ugh, I'm becoming more and more ashamed to be a Nintendo nerd with each passing day :/

I added more info to the first page. I don't think you have to pay for the actual app just the online benefits? not sure :X

Flip Note 3ds! Coming this summer!

I just watched a video about Flip Note 3d. I think it would be coming around the same time as Animal Crossing. I am sure they will tell us more during e3! During the video there is a short cartoon of Shizue!

Here is the link!:

I don't know about you but I am excited. Things are looking up for us!

There is also some video of the Alpacas....she sneaks up on him while he is sleeping and stamps a heart in his hair :D

A thread was just merge with mine, right? never had it happened before so i dunno.

The only thing you have to pay is for the global service, the app and the friend service is free.
Nintendo said that there are going to be certain days when the "entrance" to the world service will be free, and if your flipnotes are popular enough you will not have to pay your monthly fee. [All this is already in the first post, but eh. Also, I don't see what's so bad about charging for the global service, which is completely optional e__e]

I am SO GLAD they are finally releasing a Flipnote for the 3DS, I was complaining about that this past week. I really loved this app when I first toyed with it.

Yeah. I merged a Flipnote thread from the New Leaf board into here. No need to have separate ones in each board.

If it was in the NL board it was in the wrong place anyway. =p

I'd like to get it. Never got to before because I never bought a dsi.

Eh. They were pointing out the Animal Crossing flipnotes in the video. That was the logic for posting in the NL board I assume.

the friend service part, do you think its a test to see how a miiverse community would work for the 3ds? I never had this app and can't draw for the life of me but if it lets you do more with friends that I can try to learn how to use it.
