Yeah, he gives you random items if the fish isn't bigger than average. Like if you read what he says he's like "Oh, this ____ is pretty big" or something and that's when he gives you a part of the fish set.
I gave up getting the other half for now cause I got like 3 dab tables, 2 sea anemone beds, 2 squid chairs, 2 football fish lamps, 2 crab clocks and 3 marine pop floors ugh.

I didn't do the best job keeping track of my fish sizes, otherwise I probably could have gotten a lot more items :/ maybe next time

Yeah, in theory it sounded like a good idea. I don't know all the inter workings of the game yet though.

Was that directed towards me? I think I am set, especially with two squid chairs (thanks again sally!). The only one I'd be missing is the dab table.
