Pokémon First Shiny?

I've gotten a whole bunch of shinies from trades and friends, but I hadn't actually encountered and caught one until today. I'm sure I did when I was younger, but I don't remember it and I probably just killed it.

My first shiny I encountered was a Magikarp while fishing on Slateport's beach trying to get a Wailmer (didn't occur to me I'd need a good rod til after). I wasn't even fishing for long.. like maybe 20 mins, and I wasn't chain fishing. It's kinda funny that my first shiny is the most useless pokemon in the game. I already have a shiny Gyrados too, so I'm stuck with this shiny Magikarp.

What was your first shiny pokemon you caught yourself?

I think my first was tentacool but I might have lost it. It was a long time ago. My first in recent times was jigglypuff.

After all these years, I have never caught one myself. Granted, I've never really gone on any shiny hunting expeditions. I tried chaining in X a couple of times but can't for the life of me tell the differences in the shaking grass. But yeah, I've only ever traded for them.

Not counting the Red Gyarados you automatically get in HGSS, it was a shiny Teddiursa. I was really surprised and thought it was a glitch, but then it made that sound and sparkle, indicating that it was a shiny! I caught it as soon as I could It had an Adamant nature, too, which is pretty awesome ^o^

I was surprised to be honest. I'd never encountered a shiny before and I set my game down and went outside for a good thirty minutes. I went back inside and contemplated using my Master Ball. Eventually I caught it with just a great ball I: Now I know there's a method to getting shinies...But I was playing for fun and I had no idea about any technical things.

See I was the same way--I've been playing pokemon ever since I could remember and I never caught a shiny. But I did shiny hunt because all of my friends had experienced it and I felt so left out. I chained for a good few days, hours per day, I tried chain fishing the same pokemon, I went to friend safaris and did everything I found to increase my chances. But nope, I find one after I've abandoned all hope and given up.

So far I have only found two shinies: a Zubat and a Shuppet and both of these were in Emerald.

Just got Omega Ruby and heard shinies are way more common though, so I'm really hoping I get to find one.

I literally just caught my first ORAS shiny like 30 minutes ago. My first one was actually not to long ago in X & Y, being a Shiny Relicanth, appropriately named FISHSTICKS!!!!!! (Shame on you if you don't get the reference.) However, now that Ijust caught a 2nd Shiny Wingull, I can evolve one!

The first shiny that I legitimately ran into was a Shiny Pansear....but that was on my brother's Pokemon Y.

My first shiny was a wooper, back in the original silver! I was really surprised that it was pink. Too bad the little guy is gone now. Had no idea shinies were a thing back then. Then I had a shiny geodude self destruct on me in leafgreen.

My most recent shiny was a corsola in a friend safari. That's pretty much it haha /luckless

My first shiny was a slowpoke and it was in leaf green. I remember it was a weird color.. blue or green I think and I quickly turned off and on my gameboy because I thought it was broken... I didn't realize it was a shiny until years later... it was so rare too. ><

Roselia in Ruby for GBA. I had no idea shiny pokemon existed, I caught it though. Probably still on that cart too.

First shiny encountered: ratata in gold
first caught shiny: red gyardos
first non-event shiny: weedle in fireRed (on a nuzlocke. I couldn't release it. It is in my Omega Ruby right now.)

Sneasel in Crystal was my first ever.

I remember when I replayed Ruby/Emerald a few times I found three shiny Zigzagoons near the beginning (different save files). Definitely the Pokemon I've seen the most shinies of.

A long time ago when Sapphire first came out and I was much much younger, I noticed that the Beldum Steven gave me was weird. Couldn't put my finger on it, so I just stored it in my box without much thought.
Realized a couple years ago as I was transferring between games that this Beldum (named STEVEN because I had been genuinely overcome by gratitude & wanted to preserve the moment or something. Like it's not just given to you like that right??) was actually shiny. I just assumed he turned blue when he evolved or something.
There's an event for it now, but oh well, little dude's got history.

second was from WT (zorua), same as third (petilil)
then i hathced a shiny bagon a few days after getting a special ditto
and thats it. tears.

The first shiny I had ever run into ever ever was my starter when I got the cartridge for Gold.
However, the sace battery died. R.I.P. Totodile, I thought you were hella cool with your stars and stuff.

The Shiny I truly consider my first one was a Pelipper in Ruby. I was getting ready for school while training my Chansey to evolve into a Blissey, and then I ran into the Pelipper, caught it, named it Pelloo. I don't even know where it is now, lol
