This is quite urgent, as I'm storming through the game at a fast pace.

Before I level up my character's classes, is it best to max them out to level 20/30 before levelling them up so that they gain as many +1s in their categories as possible?

So for example when you hit level 10 with a character you can level up his class to say mage > war mage or something

is it best to keep my char as a mage until his level is maxed, then level him up to a war mage so I'll be able to level him up even more (since when you lvl ur classes ur level gets reset to 1), or is this not possible

Well personally I do just so then they can be at a somewhat same pace and just to also make sure they get as much as they need, but in the end it doesn't make a difference because you can use a second seal which resets their level back to zero but with same stats. This works for promoted and un-promoted. In the end it depends on how much you think you need, but it is totally up to you. Hope I helped! :)

I max to 20 first, the only time I promote early is when I'm stuck on a chapter and I don't want to grind my units.

Thank you for the replies! Just levelled up all of my characters significantly through the DLC maps and was just wondering whether it'd be a smart move.

ok my save file randomly went corrupt literally a minute ago and I've just lost over 40 hours of gameplay......

This happened to me several times to my downloaded copy..
It sucks. ;-;

I know this thread is kind of no longer relevant, but promoting or reclassing at 20 is and always has been generally better. In Awakening where you can just reclass all the time, it matters a bit less than in the other games, but you still learn skills at level 15.

In the older games, where reclassing all the time is less common and sometimes not actually an option, promoting at 20 is optimal because the units end up far better by endgame by having earned those level ups.
