"finishing" towns?

The furthest I got to completing a town was probably 40% or something haha I've only reset once but soon after I did that I regretted it bc I missed my town. I'm probably going to buy another game since I have so many town theme ideas, so many other villagers I want and so many house ideas I want to turn into reality. I've been scared about finishing as well but I could never bear to Reset after my hard work, so buying a new game seems to be the only option for me!

I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts on this thread tbh. I hope OPs fears havedisappeared a bit!

I think maybe it's a good idea to change up your town depending on the season? At the start of each season, I change the paths to give the town a different vibe if that makes sense. That way, it'll still feel like a nice change without having to reset. Changing PWPs and landscaping per season can also help. :)

This is actually a really good idea.

I wouldn't reset your town though. I've had my same town since I first got NL on June 13. 2013. It's kind of nice having the same town for several years. on April 20th. I decided to get a new cartridge because I felt like having a new town with new villagers and a new layout. And it's nice to have one without having to get rid of your old town full of memories </3

I'm not necessarily afraid I'll stop playing if I finish my town. I'll just keep playing and enjoy my town. In reality, my town's never really going to be "finished", because it'll always be changing with new villagers and new ideas.

However... my boyfriend "finished" his town, saved it as a dream and quit playing, saying that "there's nothing left to do." Silly boy. He still doesn't have the Emporium or all the badges. Then again, he's playing the game in Japanese, so he can't even understand what's going on. lol

Despite that, it's still a fun and relaxing game. If you can keep your town long enough and "finish" it, you can just relax, have fun, befriend your villagers, and enjoy your town. And it's not like you'll have to keep your town looking the same forever. You can always add new ideas and whatnot. Best of luck with your town! (:

It's sort of hard to define a finished town, too. Like for me, it'd be getting all the catalog items (minus pictures and regional DLC and such), all the badges, 4 player houses all well decorated, all PWPs available, museum full, all buildings upgraded and completed, and a fully pretty town.
And honestly, I don't think I'm ever gonna get there.

I haven't finished yet but I know I'm about half way there. I think once I get finished I'll be happy as my goal once everything is done is to use my extra tbt and bells to host giveaways and help other people fulfill their wishlists for free and just enjoy the social aspect of this forum.
