Finally!!!

Only took about a little over a month and a half, but I finally got my first blue rose!

I could have potentially have gotten it sooner, but I got 'lost' in the middle of the more involved method and I was just like, "eh, I'll start over with a slightly easier but less common method!"

Great way to start off the new month.

I Got BLue Roses out of the tail on my island.

Congratss! I haven't tried growing them myself, but I've seen how difficult it can be to finally attain them ;;u;;

Congratulations! :D I’m still working on getting mine, so I understand that this is a really big accomplishment!

They aren't really difficult to get, they are just time consuming to get. Most difficult part of it is the patience.

bro how did you do it I've had no luck

did you use the purple-orange and then hybrid red-hybrid red method?

The best method depends on how much space you're willing to devote to breeding the blue rose and how much risk you're willing to tolerate (the methods that are the fastest on average also have a small chance of taking an extremely long time if you're very unlucky). I'd avoid purple+orange for the reasons I stated on the previous page:

If you're talking about one of the methods that produce the lowest value red rose that can produce a blue rose (1110), those red roses have only a 1 in 64 chance of producing a blue rose so there's no way to know for sure until you get really lucky and get the blue rose. So all you can do is keep breeding. If you're getting orange roses, you're probably on the right track. If you're using the orange + purple method to get hybrid red roses, then half of your red roses will have no shot of producing a blue rose so you'll just have to breed a lot of those hybrid reds and hope you hit on two good ones. If you're using a more reliable method to get hybrid red roses like the Asteriation 1010 red + seed yellow or 1011 pink + seed yellow, then you know your hybrid reds are good and you just have to keep trying. You can improve your odds by taking any red, orange, or black offspring from those hybrid reds, cloning them, and breeding them with their clones to potentially have genetically superior pairs with a better chance of producing a blue rose.

If you are following the one of the reliable blue rose methods and have not introduced any roses of unknown genetic quality, then it's just a matter of being patient and sticking with it because all of the blue rose methods take a fairly long time if you're watering your flowers alone. If you messed up somewhere though, then you may never get a blue rose unless you start over.

Congratulations! I remember in earlier games they were difficult to grow so I assume it's the same here.

They still take a while to breed, but NH has several changes to flower breeding mechanics that make it easier. Being able to clone flowers helps, and once you get a blue rose you don't have to worry about having a viable breeding partner to get more. The visitor watering mechanic allows you to breed a lot of offspring quickly. Terraforming makes it easier to find space for breeding and helps you keep your flower plots separated from each other. It's also nice that you don't have to worry about losing all of your hard work by accidentally running over your flowers or taking a shovel to them.

Nope, a different method I made (that I have on my Hybrid Guide):

White + White = Purple
Purple + Red = Hybrid Red 1
Hybrid Red 1 + Yellow = Hybrid Red 2
Hybrid Red 2 + Hybrid Red 2 = Blue Rose (1.56% chance)

It's practically the same to the old method we used in New Leaf, just with the lack of dud hybrid reds so there isn't any testing or brute forcing to do.

Congrats! I am still waiting for my first blue rose to come. I am trying on two islands to get visitor watering bonuses to increase the chances...

Congrats! I tried with one of the methods, but got stuck on the "breed hybrid pink roses" part. My roses just will not breed and make them 😝

But I got some rose seeds the other day, and am gonna work on starting over soon! I finally got gold roses awhile ago, though- I found them the morning after inviting people for a meteor shower and some of them watered my black roses 🤩 I just have three in my spooky forest- I'm planning on putting a few blue roses there, too!

I'll try this. I did one that was like... purple + black = red hybrid, then breed the red hybrids for pink hybrids, then breed the pink for a chance at blue. But I couldn't even get the pink 😒

Congrats!! I admire those who have the patience to breed their own hybrids! (I did not have this patience and am also very thankful to those who gave me their hybrids for free)

If you are sure your purple roses came from breeding two white roses together, then you're on the right track. You then want to take the hybrid red roses you described and breed them with seed yellow roses (make sure they come from seed bags or things may get messed up). Take the red offspring from that combination and breed them with each other for a 1/64 chance at a blue rose. If you have space and you want to further increase your odds, take any red, orange, and black offspring from this step, clone them, and breed them with their clones. These pairings have a higher probability of producing a blue rose.

The method that involves pink roses is very slow and basically designed for people who have trouble keeping track of their different red roses from each other. But there are enough ways to keep track of your roses (separating steps into individual gardens, using different surfaces to plant different flowers in, etc.) that it's not worth sacrificing efficiency to make things easier to keep track of.

I would personally advise against using the red rose offsprings of the two hybrid red roses, since there's about a 50% chance it'll have genetics that will not help you in obtaining a blue rose, same with the orange roses and black roses. It would be much faster to duplicate and continue to use the hybrid red rose offspring from the hybrid red1 and yellow seed pairs until you get about 20 of them total.

Not to say you absolutely shouldn't use the offsprings from the hybrid red roses, since there is a chance you'll be improving your odds but at the same time, you're sort of not and are also reducing your odds.

I wouldn't replace the 1110 red roses with their offspring, but it's at least worth attempting to clone and breed the offspring if you're not really space limited because something is better than nothing. If two 1110 red roses produce a red offspring, it has a 69% chance of being 1110 or better. You're more likely to get a genetically superior red rose than a dud. The black and orange offspring are less reliable, but they could potentially have genes that give you a 25% chance at the blue rose which is worth it. I had about 20 1110 red roses, but ultimately got my first blue rose from a red/orange offspring mix and then got another blue rose from two 2120 black roses, and have seen numerous stories of others getting their blue rose from the genepool / cesspool / "loser's bracket". The genepool overall has a higher success probability than the 1110 red roses themselves because many of the useless offspring from the 1110 red roses are eliminated as yellow, white, and purple offspring.

And incredibly satisfying. I remember my first one like it was yesterday. I went around plucking blue roses today to make a bunch of wreaths to give as gifts, and counted 84 in total. I swear the rain makes them breed like rabbits.
