Neither of these are my first choice by any means BUT they are both adorable and I definitely wouldn’t mind having either of them on my island. That being said, I too am a bit exhausted of all the Marshal hype and unfortunately that’s led me to be less enthusiastic about him so Lolly gets my vote.
You bring up a good point. A lot of people bash the more popular villagers because they are “overrated,” but the thing is, they are popular for a reason!

Managed to miss voting on the last couple of these. I'm a bit surprised Lolly survived until the final two, thought she'd go before Diana or Fauna. Would have loved Diana to get this far but missed the last round of voting, sorry to let the side down...
Ultimately have to embrace the normie within me and go with Marshal. I rejected Lolly when she was in my campsite, she's fine but I don't care for the normal personality and don't think her design especially stands out amongst the absolute bevy of cute cats in AC. Marshal is, for all his overexposure, tiny and adorable.

I love discovering new dreamies, so I definitely understand this. She is so cute, so what’s not to love?

I understand your point about Lolly fading in among the plethora of cat villagers in ACNH, though I still love her!

I get your point about Lolly being a bit generic, but after having her in my town for a bit I can say she all but makes up for it!

This has probably been the hardest vote of the entire competition. 
I haven’t had Marshal, but I find him much cuter than Lolly. I have Lolly, and she’s really sweet, but not as cute as Marshal...

This is just my take on it of course, there are many great cats
Lolly for sure isn't a bad villager, she stacks up well against a lot of the villagers in the game. Marshal is just different gravy though. People love an underdog (undercat?) story though and Lolly has defied the odds so far

i voted for marshal but i love lolly too! i’ve just never had her and i’ve had marshal in NL and NH jdjdjd (i didn’t even buy him, just got him by luck both times!)
