Hey guys, should I post a quick video on what my town looks like? It could be easier for you guys as to where I should place certain projects or what I should get rid of. You don't need to answer this, but it's something that crossed my mind.
I like how all the houses are in the northern part of your town! Did you plot reset to get them all in that area?
As for what else you could add... idk. I have archways in front of my mayor's house and the cafe in my town. Maybe you could decorate some buildings like that? Though you probably wouldn't be able to do it with your mayor's hiuse because of the houses right in front of it.
Another thing I forgot to mention - I really like where your Re-Tail is. Not too far to walk to and from the dock when you're selling beetles from the island, and not too far to get to from the train station for trades on here.
Another idea is maybe having a little 'park' area with benches, lights and maybe a fountain. Of course, that might not go with the theme you're going for, if you do want your town to have a specific theme.
A lot of towns do, so if you are going for a theme, you could try visiting towns with the same theme you want through the dream suite to get ideas.
Thanks for your advice!
I actually got this map layout as one of my many choices when I first started the game. I liked how practically all of my villager's houses are all close in that one area, so I chosen this layout as a result. Since I was new to the game, I had no idea what the plot reset trick was, so I just let my villagers move to whatever spot they choose.
I do want to get archways soon, now that you mention it. Like you pointed out, though, because of my villager's locations, it will make things uneasy, but I think I can work around something.
It's funny to say, because the park area idea is what my town theme is all about, haha.
I'll keep the Dream Suite idea in mind. It could really help with that I'm trying to do with my town, come to think of it.
It's personally not one I would choose because of the location of Retail, town hall, and the plaza. I prefer the Retail closer to the cliffs. But it's still a good map. Even though I prefer the plaza closer into my town, where yours is located is actually pretty cute. Your caf? location is good too, in my opinion. If it were me, I would put down a brick path leading to everyone's house on the upper half of town and have more of a natural tree/flower-edged path on the other side. Maybe adding a yellow bench near town hall and Retail, and another by your caf?? For the one near the caf? I would actually put it to the right of it, but far enough that it's not in the path of the bridge.
There's a couple parts of land that are sticking out (near where the caf? is going to be) and I would put either a lighthouse or a windmill in one of those two spots. If you put it in the one on the left, the one on the right could be a sitting area if you have the picnic basket PWP (I don't have it so I don't specifically know what it's called), or you could put a bench there or something.
I would also maybe suggest putting a fountain between your campsite and town hall. It may not look good because I don't know what the land there is like (rocks, etc.) but you could probably be able to tell for yourself.
Yep! I've actually created a brick path that leads to all of my villager's houses. I'm still in the process of making the paths, but it does give me a better idea on where to place projects and flowers.
I'll definitely keep the yellow bench locations in mind. I've been meaning to find an ideal location for a yellow bench, but what you've recommended really works, especially with the theme I'm trying to aim for. I'll also consider putting a windmill next to the caf?. Thanks!
Interestingly enough, I actually have a fountain somewhere in my town. It's between the three houses on the top right and the house down below. It's surrounded by peach trees however, which doesn't seem to look appealling. So as such I'm thinking of cutting down some peach trees so that the fountain can clearly be seen.
I appreciate your thoughts and your recommendations. Thanks very much!
