I've seen a fair amount of people criticizing the game and what it currently has to offer, but there are many things that NH has offered that are amazing and has not been in previous titles that some people might have overlooked/forgotten. What features do you like and has made the game more enjoyable for you?
These are what I don't miss
1. Flowers don't die when you trample over them
2. You have the freedom to move your plots as opposed to NL where it was plopped randomly
3. Grass deterioration
The Nook shopping app! Sometimes I forget what I needed to buy by the time I get to the Nook Stop, so the app is convenient to have. I also like how the custom designs auto-smooth (if that makes sense?) and aren't super pixely. Plus the graphics in the game are amazing and make the game so much better in my opinion.
Terraforming in general. Being able to shape the rivers and make cliffs for a more interesting landscape. I didn't play NL a lot but the critterpedia telling you when bugs and fish are available and if you have donated them to museum or not.
-FURNITURE OUTSIDE. The skies have opened up and shone their glory upon my face. BLESS.
-the far superior room rearranging interface a la Happy Home Designer so it's not all *shove* *shove* *shove* *rotate* *can't rotate* *omg* *end this* *ugh*
-t-t-t-TERRAFORMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
-ofc also plot relocation hnnnggggg
-honestly I just really love mystery islands, they are so fun and rando
tbh one of the things I really appreciate and love about AC and Nintendo in general is they're really receptive/responsive to feedback and they really do a lot of updates and changes based on user input, based on my experiences both on handheld and mobile stuff from them. It's really really awesome <3
- no random house plots
- plot relocation
- limited tools in multiplayer
- some control over who moves in
- no more "you can't build this, it's too close to other things"
- way more interactions between villagers
I'm.on the fence about the flowers because while it's cool they don't get destroyed anymore, having to dig them up is a little annoying when you need to relocate a bunch/get rid of naturally spawned ones.
I just wanted to add the fact that the villagers seem more alive! Sure, their dialogue could be better, but I really like watching them doing stuff around the island, talking to each other, doing sports, etc. Really is one of the game makers for me!
I play the game daily but there’s more I don’t like about the game then like. It’s not so much the features but the lack of features that bothers me so, I feel like it could easily be fixed.
2. I love be able to place items outside and it not being counted as clutter
3. More villagers in our town
4. Being able to use amiibo cards to invite my favorite villagers to my town and being able to kick out one if I have ten villagers already. I see this also as a small con too, I feel like it does take a bit out of the experience of meeting random villagers and getting to know them.
5. Paths - I like having paths and the fact that when my villager is running or walking, the sound of their footsteps match the texture of the path I choose to use as opposed to sounding like I’m walking on grass. It also is nice not to have to use custom design space with path designs anymore
First thing popping up in my mind that hasn't been said yet: the Photos app!!
It reminds me of the similar mode in Mario Odyssey, and while they obviously aren't the same — less camera control in ACNH (makes sense cause the world isn't set up the same way at all) and the filters serve different purposes — I love this feature in both games!
There's other small things as well, like how you can have a "rolling cylinder" or "from above" type of view like you want! I use both — I have the NL-style camera most of the time, but the Gamecube way is pretty useful for stuff like catching bugs, fishing, or terraforming <3
