Favourite river layout?

Prefer a fairly horizontal river mid-map so three bridges can be placed equidistant to best quickly access north and south. (Artillery on the high ground to thwart southward encroachment by those darn pine trees....)

Here is the map of the town I am working/playing in right now, Novaria. I am very happy with this map, actually, but didn't even realize it until I did a fresh start a while ago. Look at Re-Tail! It's a straight running shot from the dock! Look at my house...not a single villager in front of me, and I didn't even plot reset! I have open space right in front, then the fence for growing hybrids, then my pear orchard, then the lighthouse! And who lives so close to you on the east, you ask? None other than FANG, who is always watching out for me, lol.

Oh, back to topic, haha. This simple river is wonderful! My second town has this incredibly long, winding river, which has it's advantages in my "Star Shores Water Walk" town of Elenrast. Now that I'm finished with that town the river doesn't bother me, but it was always so obviously there. As is this photo, good grief!!

I like a lot of river shapes, as long as the edges aren't super raggedy. One of my favourites is the narrow S-shape on the side, since it leaves a lot of space river-less but also cuts off one side, like a private woods, where I keep my campsite.

I had a winding one, but the angles made it difficult to build any PWPs. Or rather, my villagers pick the worst spots to build their homes. When I restarted my town, I picked a horizontal river. It's like an "L," but the short side points up and long side points right. It makes building bridges so much easier and I like the division of the town... much more equal, I guess? I only really need 2 bridges in this river layout so I don't waste bells on building a 3rd bridge.

I like the zig zag one horizontal as well ..the one that creates a little peninsula in the middle for the mayor’s house .

I really like it when the town plaza is central / in the middle of the map. My current
town has this layout and I'm happy with it.
