I got the impression that he was a very generous business man!
I mean, think about it. You show up in this new town with no money. And this guy is like hey, you're gunna get a home soon so like lemme give you this free tent so that you have a place to sleep until you're financially secure to pay off this KICK ASS LOAN WITH NO INTEREST RATE.
Sounds like the exact opposite of a greedy raccoon to me.
