Favorite cranky villagers? Need advice

Dobie is my favorite Wolf and cranky villager. He fits the cranky aesthetic with him being an old man literally.

dobie and kabuki are top tier imo!! i had to pass on dobie when island hopping bc i dont want any crankies,, but if i ever change my mind i’ll b sure to look for either of these boys!!

Chow is adorably cranky, and overall a really funny, cute and sweet villager! ^^

I had Elvis for a brief moment too and didn't liked him neither so I agree hahaha.
I recommend Cyd, very underrated, he's a nice cranky who loves to sing and dance, cute big punk tomato.
Between the more popular ones Dobie and Kabuki fits the cranky personality very well, they are cool old men.

Groucho is really great, totally underrated! He is cute and cuddly and downright huggable. He kind of seems like he was terribly hurt in the past and is just trying to find happiness again. He also loves to dance, making the cutest faces, and he sings, but only when he thinks no one is listening. The moment you get too close to him, he will stop. I know bears aren't exactly popular, but Groucho is very charming and sweet I probably wouldn't have purposefully sought him out, but the moment I met him on an island, I knew I wanted to love and cherish him forever.

I know everyone hates the gorillas but to me, Peewee and Cesar embody the personality perfectly. Other great options are Walt and Roscoe; they look even cooler in this game.

I have fang and recently brought in Avery. I feel like that eagle is an underrated gem

I have Octavian now and Butch in New Leaf. They're both great. Bruce seems like he'd be good, too.

Well a lot of characters are basicly the same. Just another look My GF has Elvis and I have Wolfgang. They just say exactly the same things only one is a lion and the other a wolf.

I think it's just important to keep interacting. Talk, give them gifts, send letters and after a while they are one of the most kind characters in your village.

But if it's just the looks you don't like I'd say just look for a cranky you think looks nice.
