Hard to say since I have only been to the US, Canada, and Australia. I don't think I've tried enough truly authentic cuisine from other countries to judge fairly.

But I imagine Italy, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, and India would be at the top of the list (aside from the US/CA/AUS)!

Well China and Taiwan are at the top of my list because that is my culture but after that it’s Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Spanish, Tex Mex, and Italian. The foods from different cultures but haven’t had enough of it or it is hard to find in my area are curry, Mediterranean, and some German things found at Aldi’s such as desserts or frozen schnitzel.

I can't say that I've had many other countries' authentic cuisine so I'm basing my list off their Americanized counterparts. I do believe I would enjoy the real thing even more, though.

—Italy (my personal favorite)

—Mexico

—France (I love croissants, macarons, quiche Lorraine, and well-made French onion soup)

—Japan (love yaki soba and okonomiyaki)

—China

—United States (hot dish anyone?)

Hawaiian, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, and Mexican are all the ones I like.

I love Middle Eastern food the most: my favorite food are chicken shawarma sandwich, falafel and baklava!

Mexican: I haven’t found a restaurant that I liked as much or close to the one that was closer to my old house. I love their chicken soft shelled tacos, beans and rice.. I also like taco salads, some other dish I can’t think of the name. A bunch other things I like.

Chinese: I think all the Chinese food I’ve had has been Americanized so I haven’t had any authentic. I like sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and white rice,

Japanese: Rice, I love sushi, only california rolls, tuna, fatty tuna, and salmon rolls atm. Ramen too though probably not authentic the one I eat.

Indian: I have only had a curry from a mixed but I’d love to try some authentic. 🙂

German: I love sauerkraut. There is another dish my mom sometimes makes that I like too but I forgot the name (she’s not German but my dad).

My favorite is Mediterranean food, especially Turkish food. Love kebabs, shawarma wraps, and falafels. I also like Middle Eastern food such as Lebanese and Persian dishes. Lastly, I'm quite fond of Indian food like samosas with chutney.

I couldn't possibly rank them.

At home I cook predominantly Italian, Indian, and Mexican dishes. I've been on a Mexican food kick for most of this year. Although two of my favourite dishes I commonly cook are Russian and Vietnamese - but that's a love of a specific dish rather than an entire cuisine.

Chinese and Japanese are both high up there. Both order in and make at home, I cook the former more as we've great Chinese supermarkets here while Japanese ingredients are more difficult and thus pricier to get a hold of. I recently made Peking duck at home for the first time and was so happy it came out well as it's my favourite Chinese dish. I only started making sushi at home when I found a reliable fishmonger who could provide safely handled salmon and tuna. Homemade miso soup is a regular in my house.

Turkish is my go to when ordering food for delivery. My attempts to cook Turkish food that matches up hasn't been too successful. 😂

I rarely cook food from my own cuisine. It's bland. The only British dishes I make are the classic full Scottish breakfast and Sunday roast.

Mexican, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese. I also like some French food, like croissants and Quiche Lorraine.

Edit— Oh…I just realized I already answered…well, my tastes haven’t changed! 😂

I can't really rank any of them. I will say that Mexican is my favourite cuisine but pizza is my favourite food. I really like Mediterranean food in general. Greek, Italian and Spanish food are all around great. Argentina has the best meats imo.

Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Italian and American is what I enjoy the most. 🫔🌮🍣🍜🍝🍕🍗

This would be my list of favourite cuisines, but a small disclaimer that I've never been to these countries to have authentic foods, this is just what I've had from restaurants or supermarket freezers lmao
  1. Italy bro. What kind of mastermind invented lasagne?? 🙏😍 Also Italian chippers do the best fish and chips, literally no argument
  2. Japan. Idek that I've had that much from there, but of the stuff I have tried, it's been delicious
  3. France, for the croissants and various other pastries
  4. India, though unfortunately I have a terrible spice tolerance lol
  5. Thailand, very delicious
  6. China—though both for China and Thailand I've only ever really had takeaway foods
  7. All the Greek food I've had is lovely, if not excessively yoghurty (at least the things they sell in lidl are)
  8. Honorary mention to Ireland for the otherworldly invention of the spice bag. You get them in most Chinese takeaways and deli shops (ie centra, spar etc), love them with all my being. I do like other Irish food, but there's not much selection. I do like to have plain food though, spicy stuff does get a bit much if you have it all the time

SAME lol I've never been to these countries either

After reading your posts, I have a couple of questions (I am loving this thread, and its making me hungry!)

First, what is the difference between Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food? I ask because the dishes a couple of you listed under both are some of my favorites. My geography isnt the greatest, especially when it comes to cuisine!

Also, what do non-Americans consider American food?
