Extra Storage is for 500.000 bells?

So this morning I updated my game to the latest version, and I've heard that if you upgraded your house fully by paying all loans: this extra storage should be free of charge by Nook. But apparently... This man wants 500.000 bells for this. Is this a bug?

Did they say it was meant to be free in the video? I don’t really see why it should be, every upgrade so far has been a paid in-game one :/

I haven't seen anyone mention the storage as being free. I believe it's always 500,000 bells, after your fully upgraded house is fully paid off.

The thing that becomes free after paying your final loan is changing the exterior appearance of your house once per day.

I think if it had meant to be free, it wouldn't be done as an upgrade through Nook.

I just checked, in the trailer they never claimed it was free. It just showed a player talking to Nook about more storage and a message popping up saying "Maximum storage increased from 1600 to 2400!". This didn't claim that the storage would be expanded automatically, just that it was now possible to make it larger than before.

In any case. This interaction with Nook was coded into the game very deliberately. This is 100% not a bug. You don't accidentally/unintentionally add dialogue and a price to a game.

Why would it be free? Aside from customization, anything upgrade that goes toward the house costs something.

Also 500,000 bells isn't that bad compared to the 2 mil it takes for the basement, so I'm not complaining.

I gave so many billions to friends upon friends because the turnip stalk exchange had been kind to me. Then I moved a lot of houses, built bridges, inclines, bought a lot of pricey furniture... And eventually the bank account said NO. How would I have known the developers thought about making bells and Nook useful again? Lol.

I would be incredibly surprised if they one day expanded the rest of the rooms in our house that are small.

this recent like 3 million expense of paying off my final home loan and then upgrading my storage has hurt. i have a bit over 8 million bells now ;W;

I hadn't paid off my house loan before the update (why would I lol) but this is the reason why I always keep 10m in my account no matter what.

But I still have to pay off four other houses I've been ignoring...
