Hello! My father does not understand the concept of animal crossing -- to the point that I can't express how excited I am about it without him just telling me to water real flowers. I was wondering if any of you have seen a video or an article that it explains it well to share with him? Thank you!

Maybe show him a trailer of the game? Usually, trailers are there to explain the general things you need to know about a game. And I think the trailers for Animal Crossing games pretty much explain what the franchise is about. Alternative, maybe let him read the Wikipedia entry for Animal Crossing? Should also explain everything you need to know about it. Or just tell him it's a "social simulation video game" where the main goal is to build your own little town, taking place in a fantasy universe.

I would also show him the Gameplay of the Game from E3, and explain why you are excited for it as those features come up in the game. You could also tell him about previous games in the Animal Crossing Series and tell him how this one differes from them.

Tell him it is a game where nothing is expected of you and that you can take life at your own pace. Plus, unlike a real flower, these flowers are easier to take care of, the fish are easier to catch, etc. etc. etc. It is the real world on easy mode and it is a great way to relax after a stressful day. As an old person, I can appreciate a small break from the real world where everyone needs something from me and it's really easy to get money and buy things without going into bankruptcy, lol.

It's really hard to explain Animal Crossing without making it seem like some boring, pointless game. It's kind of something that has to be experienced. But if I were to try to explain it, I'd say that it's just a game about life where you can just relax, you're not in a hurry to do anything, and you can play the game pretty much any way you want.

It's kinda hard to explain a game to someone else. You really just have to be the one to experience it for yourself in order to understand all of it. Like a couple of other people have said, maybe watch the trailers? That might be the best way to see why and how it's the best game ever. Or you can just explain that you really love all the things you do love about the game. Either way works to me. :)

There are a lot of really good trailers released by nintendo- the best one that explained the game to me before I bought it is quiet long.

That's a toughie to answer. You could explain by telling them that it's just a game where you progress at your own pace, build your town/island however you want it. You could also tell them that the game does not have a true ending and it is up to them to decide their own. And the best part, you could tell them that they don't have to worry about stupid microtransactions (which has hit many games, especially mobile), grind desperately to get a limited edition item, and so on. The rest of the people here have already said other things.
