i know EXACTLY how you feel... i've played FFXI for the past 5 years (yes, i know some people consider that sad), and although i get tired of it and take a few month breaks sometimes... i always end up going back and getting totally addicted to it again...

although, right now, this is the longest i've been away from it. i haven't played in like 3 months...

Last summer, I went on an MMO-extravaganza.

I played FFXI...It's quite dull. Probably just because I didn't know what I was doing...but like, everyone was japanese...I was very confused and alone...

I've never been to Gaia. My ex (not even that, really) always tried to get me on there, but I never did. I'm not too into anime... I don't even have cable, so I can't watch any, anyway.

It's not about anime, the avatars just look "animeish".

yeah... the japanese player base on there is SO racist towards all english speaking players because when FFXI was first released, it was understood to only be released in japan. when it became the hit it did in japan, they released it in the other countries... which made japanese players very mad because now they had these western cultured idiots ruining their game...

english speakers ruined the entire economy because japanese players would actually play failry and work for the in-game currency, while the noobs decided it was much easier to buy from currency from gilsellers...

making so much currency come into the game out of nowhere... ruining everything...

FFXI takes such a long time to accomplish anything too... i'm not sure if anyone on here heard about the group of players that played 18 hours straight attempting to defeat ONE MONSTER that it took them a year to be able to fight -one time-.

so now the game is failing, and that's one of the reasons SE is doing everything they can to try and bring it back. :/

i regret the day i got FFXI and became addicted... you're lucky you didn't have anyone pointing you in the right direction, because you'd be in the same boat as me, lol.

Which basically narrows down to paying money to buy a video game. Or virtual music.

It's not something I do, but it's not money poorly spent.

No you don't I haven't paid any money on gaia and I have over 200k gold, you can however spend money on some items, or you can buy them with gold.

actually, before i began playing FFXI, i spent more money on games than i spend a month on FFXI. every month for FFXI, it's like 10-15 dollars depending on how many extra characters you create to hold more items for yourself.

before i played, i was spending 60+ a week on games because every week i'd get bored of the games i had bought before, and go back to the used game store and get some more... i spent the same amount of time on the games i played before FFXI too. i could say you're wasting your life for playing animal crossing. video games are a hobby, just like people that paint, knit, or whatever do to pass their time...

the difference between FFXI and other games is my character is saved on a server and can never be deleted on accident, or lost on a memory card. if i quit playing for 2 years and think i may want to begin playing again, i can get my character back in the same exact condition it was on the day i quit playing. so really, it's not a waste as much as other games... it keeps going, and you can never really lose what you've done.

i'm sorry? you can rent NES, SNES, N64, gamecube, regular playstation, sega genesis and regular XBOX games there?

or are you implying that all people play nowadays is wii, XBOX360, and Ps2/3 games? there are other games i like to play outside those realms... some of the best games ever made that will never be topped came out on those systems, which are sadly not available at your local blockbuster stores.

and before you say,"ok lol so why do you keep going back every week? those systems are like SO OLD OMG" - the games are rare, and there are hundreds/thousands for each console.
