I'm a little anti-social so I don't really let people come to my town much right now (hope to fix that, lol), but like the 2nd to last time I had someone visit they ran past to place where I had some of my mushrooms and when I went to see where they went, 1 shroom was gone and the person was picking up another!!! I booted them out right away and saved my shrooms, but jeesh people. Makes me even more worried about having people come. (this was a person who I went to their town some and respected their stuff!)

I agree with meltd0wn...there really isn't anything they can mess up that you can't fix...yes, it would take some work but I also don't have a town full of hybrids and patterns etc...hybrids take a lot more time to recoup but patterns are easily replaced.
I don't even know why I care about the watering can considering I never have to water my flowers LOL

I forgot to close my gate after opening it for my friends, and I put my ds into sleep mode, and left it for about half an hour. When I cam back, all my flowers were ruined,and my trees had all been chopped down. Thank goodness the culprit was still there, so I quit without saving. Then resetti came and yelled at me for 2 mins lol

I had a blue pansy stolen from me today after I opened my gates so that others could sell their turnips for 599 at Re-Tail. I think it's sad that people think that it's okay to go into someone else's town and steal and/or destroy what they've worked on in the name of "having fun" (destroy your own town or find a like-minded friend and destroy theirs). I'd like to be able to open my gates to people and go visit other towns... but not if I have to follow everyone around to make sure they are not destructive toddlers. I know 4 yr-olds who are better behaved than SOME of the people on here.

Yeah, sorry...still really ticked off. It took me a long time to get that pansy.

Omg at first I didn't understand the paranoia of letting people into your town. This is my first AC game and I thought it was ridiculous, but now I understand where people are coming from since I feel the exact same way! XD

And alot of the people who play AC are under 13 who, I'm betting, would be more likely to run around, steal, destroy flowers since they're just kids. I don't ask people their age when I decide to add someone's FC. p:

I'm under 13 and I would never do anything like that. I run but my friend lets me as long as I run on paths. He even let make take perfect cherries to sell

I made the grave mistake of just sleeping with my gates open(got the idea from someone else who did it) I wake up not too much damage I guess but I was still pissed. All I know it was a girl though cuz a good friend of mine was there while she was messing up my town.

Luckily, nothing bad has happened for me, just yet. I'm always respectful in another person's town. I'm respectful in someone's home in real life! It's a game but, it's my escape from reality. I enjoy it and meeting up with people. It's common courtesy and common sense.

I thought closing your 3DS closes the gates - but I was wrong. All I had was a quick food break and when I came back 6 full baskets of perfect Cherries where gone and presents that my husband had left me at the train-station (which was the reasons my gate was open in the first place).

Now I don't open my gates as I am irrationally resentful. Without being able to figure out who it was on my friends-list I fear the person might come back and I don't want to monitor everyone who sets food into my town...

I'm sorry to all those who have had things stolen from their villages.
I personally don't understand why anyone would steal from another persons village, it seems so... evil.
If I ever want anything, I just ask. Never any harm in asking. In fact, I happily let others take stuff like fruit or even still-buried fossils as long as they ask first. Just all depends on my mood really.

I haven't had that problem yet. Everyone who has come over to catalog, trade, or buy from me has always just hung out by the train station (I didn't even ask them to) and promptly left once the transaction was over. I've only had 7 visitors so far to my town though (all different people).

I've had nothing major stolen from my town, just a purple violet around my flower clock. I'm very cautious about who I play with as well. Granted, most people I play with are on the forum.

I can spot suspicious people quite easily. If something doesn't seem right, I'll always do background checks. Chances are, if they've done it before, they might do it to me. Of course, I would love to give people the benefit of doubt, but I'd rather go with my gut instinct.
