eShop ACNL and Cartridge ACNL: Will my town get corrupt again?

Alright, I have a question.

My sister and I would like to start a cycling thread here, but the last time I tried to do this my town got corrupted. This was because I was using the eShop version with different SD cards. My sister and I were going to go out and buy another cartridge of ACNL today. So, if I used that, but took my current SD card out and played on the cartridge version to cycle, will my current file be safe? I have so many dream villagers and I don't want it to happen again.

If you have a cartridge version and a digital version, you should be fine. Lots of people do it here. I'm guessing what you tried when your first town corrupted was using multiple SD cards for one digital version, right? Sorry if I'm not understanding your question correctly!

Just be careful where you change the clock for time traveling purposes. If you change the system time, you'll affect your current town if you don't change it back. I'm not a time traveler, so I don't have experience in this sort of thing, but I'd suggest using Isabelle to time travel in your cycling town. This won't corrupt anything, but it may mess up your town.

No worries! The cartridge and the digital versions save in completely different places and don't conflict with each other, so the same thing shouldn't happen. The cartridge obviously goes to the cartridge, and the digital goes to the SD card, but I believe that a little bit is also registered with the system. That's why your first town corrupted; you put in a new SD card with different save data, which clashed with what the system knew, and thus your data got corrupted.
