Enter Animal Houses when they aren't home?!?! Possible bug? New feature? or just good timing?

Tonight I entered Fang's house and he wasn't inside!!!! The light was on indicating they were home, so I went in but Fang was not home. I hung out in there for a good 10 min by myself but no Fang. I thought that maybe it was new feature? Perhaps the animal walks in on you and is all embarrassed they forgot to lock the place. Or maybe they are angry when they find you entered without permission. But no. nothing. Just an empty house. I thought maybe I'd run into them outside their door and they would see me leaving their place sparking unique dialogue. But no.

Anyone else run into this?

My best guess is it's either a glitch were the lights are on/door unlocked when the villager is not there. OR, I have crazy timing and entered the house at the exact same time that Fang left his house. Maybe?

I had this happen once. I think that it happens when you enter their house as they are leaving.

It's most likely what th8827 said. I've had the same thing happen to me (once) and I brought it up in a glitch thread around last week. At least it's not harmful (as far as I know) or as annoying as some of the other glitches/bugs that are still present in the game.
