English translation for electric sign?

I just bought the round electric wall sign from Harvey at the campground for 5 Meow coupons. It's bright and colorful, but I can't tell if it displays a meaningful message in Japanese - in which case I would appreciate your help with a translation - or if it is just an artful approximation of a text. Thanks for any assistance you can give me!

Woah, I never thought those things could have actual Japanese written on them. I just thought they looked like characters :O

I don't think there's a translation, I think it's just artsy writing but any other opinions?
