alright here we go. ive owned both. given both a fair chance.
PS3? the graphics are slightly better the online is free atm, and it some cool exclusives, it also has bluray. on the other hand, the online sucks, it freezes a lot, you cant do half the things the 360 does, you cant cross game chat with your buddies, you have to buy mics separately, and it just doesnt have as many good games.
360? imo this is the way to go, the graphics are pretty much the same, except some exclusives the PS3s look somewhat nicer. the online is amaaaazzzzinggggggg. it does just about anything you could want, the games are great, the controller is better etc. its just overall a better and more fun system. cons? i dont see many for this system, except its failure rate, which actually has dropped like crazy over the last year. i rarely hear of 360 red ringing anymore. i guess Microsoft got on its crap and found some kind of fix. you do pay for online but its like 60 bucks a year, and theres rarely lag unless its mw2 and you just get an all around better thought out online experience. it also doesnt have blu-ray, oh and the controllers take batteries, unlike the built in ps3 rechargeable pack thing. but really, just go out and buy one of the play and go charge kits or w/e its called.
No lag on Xbox? No offense but that's not true. I've faced less lag on PS3 then xbox.

PS3!!
I have hardly experienced any sort of lag online. I think is something majorly to do with your internet connection more then anything. you have a good internet connection, shouldnt have any lag. But of course it still could be laggy because other players dont have a good internet connection. But that shouldn't make a huge difference.

This for the PS3, though, it depends on your internet connection. The better the connection, the better the online. It's all a matter of the range of Wi-Fi accessibility.

Usually, within a certain radius, no matter how strong your connection is, the system will eventually cut the connection.

Wii - ||/||||
PS3 - |||/||||
XBOX360 - ||||/|||||

Those are based on the lengths by five lines. Each line would represent how good the range is, or how far it would go. I've played all three and my cousin owns all three. The Wii was made for mainly "Family Play", so, consequently, the online sucks. The PS3 was meant for graphics, blue-ray, and gaming, but not too much online except for maybe DLC and some co-op, i.e. Little Big Planet. The XBOX360, on the other hand, was not only made for the multi-player, but an awesome online as well.

Depends on what you're looking for. If it's graphics and good games, PS3. If it's good games and epic online, XBOX360, (assuming) you already have a Wii, if you don't, then get it if you want sucky online, poor graphics, and a chance to play GameCube games that are better than most current Wii Games.
it doesnt matter if the systems were beside the router. or plugged in, you get a much lesser quality in online on ps3 than on xbox 360.

Every system has lag. And it's not the system's fault.
