I was playing earlier around 3am game time, & I just couldn't figure out what was so eerie about the game? This has been a feeling I've only been getting the past couple days. I never realized at one point the music starts to play backwards. It seems really purposeful by the developers. Also, I think at that time when it's desolate & everything is still, it's off-putting. We're so used to everything being cheery, bright & social during the day that it's not unusual for the night setting to strike us as odd.
What is your creepiest moment with any of the Animal Crossing games?

I have horrifying memories of being stalked by the tarantula, lol. He used to jump out at me from behind a tree that was beside my home. This was the first game if I am remembering correctly. It is still just a terrifying blur of waking up face down in the dirt, lol.

A combination of the night bgm, the lack of villagers, and the darkness makes me uncomfortable too. It doesn't help that there are tarantulas and scorpions lying in wait either. Dx

Some of the music is beautifully haunting though..

I've never seen spiders or scorpions! Is that in New Leaf?

Seeing the alien on TV freaked me out slightly the first time :p.

In the summer, you need to catch a tarantula and scorpion for your museum. They are fast and attack if you have a net. Spiders are found my shaking trees though I forget which month, you also need one for your museum.

I usually end up playing quite a lot until about 10-11pm and there are still quite a few villagers about at that time... I'm never usually up and about at a late time myself... I might have to stay up late one night and check out the creepiness!

Getting stung by a tarantula or scorpion, no doubt. Plus, just listen to some of the night time music with headphones on as they made such strong use of stereo. The New Leaf music is just lacking. :/

They're in Wild World, City Folk and New Leaf.

When they're out is the creepiest for me too, the tarantulas more than the scorpions although they both make me jump if I haven't realised there's one there lol.

The creepiest thing for me would be walking around town at midnight or 1AM. The background music was absolutely terrifying and the lack of villages always made me feel isolated. I hated it when my town barely had any trees or flowers in it but it soon went away as I planetes trees and got more projects done.

4am
No lights
No villagers
Everything's dark
Tarantulas and Scorpions waiting to bite you
5am is worse
Reversed song
By some reason that remembers me of *cough* THE DAWN IS YOUR ENEMY *cough*
Yeah...:s

For me it was visiting Aika Village

Ohhh see I didn't think Aika was creepy... just odd. Then again I think I heard too much hype about it, so in the end I think I expected too much of it...

I think its creepy when I'm suddenly all alone in my town because everyone is sleeping xD

I get the eerie late night feeling too. It usually starts after 2 AM. Barely any villagers awake, all the stores are closed... It just creeps me out. However I usually don't play that late at night because there is almost nothing to do but aimlessly wander and talk to the one or two villagers that stay up that late.

And I remember being absolutely terrified of getting stung or bit by the tarantulas and scorpions in the middle of the night when I was new to the game. In fact, I would avoid going outside/camp out on Main Street/avoid playing the game altogether after 7PM.
Now I do go outside after 7PM without fear, but if I happen to stumble apron a tarantula or scorpion I freak out a little.
I've yet to catch one or be stung/bitten by one though.

The harvest town is set for 4am to avoid villagers and harvest perfect fruit in peace.
Summer solstice was odd and creepy. The creepy music was playing while the sun was out.

If you don't want scorpions/tarantula open your gates for a nearby visitor. It will stop them from showing up.

The spider starts in March. Best months to catch are April/May.

yes, sometimes the darkness and eerie music and lack of villagers in the middle of the night gets me really creeped out >.<

i actually love it at night! i do hate that no one's awake, but i love the sky and i think a lot of the early morning music is really pretty. but i've also only ever played new leaf (and have never encountered a tarantula yet) so my opinion might've been different if i'd played the older games lol

Cripes, just the other night I was walking around my town when I saw a bug I wanted and went running after it. I looked behind me and noticed a scorpion was chasing me! In my panic, I failed to catch it and it stung me. I woke up outside of my house, took two steps...and got attacked and stung by a scorpion again -.-

I'll catch one of you, one day, ya little ********!

I've managed to miss scorpions and spiders for the most part, scariest moment for me is when Coco suddenly appeared behind me for the first time. I knew I had a new villager but had no idea what they looked like and she wasn't quite what I pictured, gave me a shock. :D Grown to lover her design now though.

Mine was in the Gamecube days. I sometimes walked alone late at night. I had Coco in town. 'Nuff said.
