EEK!!!

So i saw and caught my first tarantula tonight and BOYYY did i jump, those things are super creepy looking!!

Congrats on catching it.
The first time I saw one it was on the other side of the bridge. I screamed out loud and ran. It crossed the bridge and than jumped into the water. At the time my pockets were full and had no where to drop the items.
After been taking out by a few I figured out how to catch them.

How do you find crickets?
Also mine randomly spawned from under a qr path near some open space (which i dont have a lot of) and my in game tome is/was set to 9pm, and actually another one spawned about 30 minutes later

iam on Sept. 12th @ 1130pm.. if you just walk around with the volume up you will hear their noise.. super cute.. they make 2 diff. noises so when you hear one tinkering sound you will know its one than the other!! ii recently erased all my qr paths bc ii wasnt liking the layout anymore so ii have nothing bht grass.. so while ii was looking for the scorpion ii found the crickets instead

and sooooo many keep popping up and im like go away ii already caught one of each of you lol

Congrats! I've yet to catch one. I do remember my heart skipping a beat every time I see one. It's a pretty dark moment fainting and ending up somewhere else.

I must be the odd one out because I love the tarantula and the scorpion, but they are easily the most difficult bugs in the game to catch. I spent many boring hours circling my town to find and catch mine.

Found that I caught most of the tarantula and scorpions when I just did tasks and chores in town. After delivery a gift for a villager a scorpion was waiting outside. Another time I was fishing and one walked behind me. Another time I was talking to a villager and it walked behind the villager. The other night a player moving flowers and standing in place. A tarantula spawned.

You can get the scorpion or tarantula Town Initiatives Meow Coupon. On those nights I found it easier to catch those bugs when a player got that challenge. Found them 20 to 90 minutes after the player started. It moved enough to let me know it was there and than just sat waiting to be caught. I got 2 coupons for catching one. It should be more.

I carry a fishing rod or a watering can and just have my net in my pockets. All the other tools are stored away. When I see it I switch to the net and stand still in stalk mode. It usually calms down and than sits. While it's sitting I stalk it slowly like the golden stag on the island. If it gets up I stand still and wait till it sits again. I tried to catch it while it's in front of me. I'm not very good catching them on an angle or when they are below me.

If it's close to the river I've saved some from jumping in. I walked back and it moved towards me. I've had one glitch. It was hanging off the cliff and I caught it.

Placing random flowers around town gives them some places to hide.

I actually wasn't startled the first few times I saw the tarantula, but then recently it randomly appeared on a bridge while I was focused on a task and it spooked me a bit. lol I never seem to get attacked by the tarantula though, just the scorpion.

I didnt even realize they attack/jump until earlier when i was reading the thread in here where others are discussing what they were unaware of was possible in the game
