I have a second copy of the game on its way to me. I now play with a download version of the game but have bought a second hand cartridge game to use when trading items and villagers as it takes a lot of time traveling which I don't really like doing in my main town.

However, I just realised all the items I currently have in my catalog will obviously not be available there (unless the cartridge holds a fully catalogued town, which would be pretty awesome).

So as I have never catalogued before, but have seen many members here talk about it.. What is the easiest way to catalog items from one catalog to another? I can use an old 3DS for town visiting, so I should be able to have the mayor of the new town visit my main town.

I don't think there is an easy way to catalog. You'd have to use your old mayor to order, then drop on the ground, all the items you want for your new town. Then your new mayor would come to your old town and pick up each item to add them to their catalog.

Oh whoa, that is not indeed the easiest way.. Thanks for replying!

Yeah, as far as I know, that's the only way to catalog. So I would suggest just worrying about the items that you know you want or need for the new town. Order those in your old town and let your new mayor come pick them up. If you want to worry about cataloging later for the badge, I would do it after some time has passed and you've already built up your catalog naturally so you have fewer items to worry about. That's what I'd do anyway.

Yeah, I think I'll just do that. For each day I need to T/T when getting someone a villager, I can just buy whatever I find at the shops and fill the catalog this way. I'll make sure I get a few important items catalogued through my main town, but I might get stressed out if I want to copy the whole catalog straight away!

I'll just keep my fingers crossed for a pretty decent catalog on the old game on the cartridge :)

One way I catalogue is buy EVERYTHING. All clothes, furniture, furniture the animals sell me. I also do more errands for them, for items in return. Constantly buy out Main Street and ReTail. It't somewhat easy to do because most of this stuff would be part of your daily routine, check the shops on Main Street, sell items, ect...

I realize it's not excactly like the other responses, but it's just one way I do it.

^ I was this way as well.
I have fully completed catalog in some of my towns, but I haven't ever bought something from other players to fill my catalog, except for one last pants that was never. ever. going to show up in Able Sisters in any of my towns at the time.
What I did was just shaking trees and buying everything from shops everyday, and one day it was 100% complete.

Songs can't be removed from the stereo while a player is visiting your town or your gates are opened.
Main mayor had to remove them and than open the gates.

For clothing wear a wetsuit. You can't put clothing on and it goes faster.
For furniture I did it room by room. Mayor put half of the items from one room in front of her house. Visiting mayor cataloged it and than mayor put it back. Put the other half on the ground.

I've been to cataloging parties. It was free to visit and catalog clothing on the beach. Other had full sets of furniture on the ground.

I have an app called "ACNL Guide". It basically helps you track the items you have in your catalog, along with fish and bugs and other things :) You can mark off any items you have in your catalog, and then you can see which items you don't have. It's really helpful, much easier than going into the catalog system in-game to see what items you have~
