It's been forever since I was able to go on one due to the villagers I want gone not wanting to budge.
I've been replacing some with amiibos but, obviously, that doesn't help with villager hunting.
For someone who doesn't TT like myself the 14-15 move-out mechanics are really far too long. I know there's a cool down period when I deny the villager I want to keep, but that's still like a week and then often the bubble will end up on another villager I want to keep.
Also, because I talk to my villagers a lot to raise friendship, 90% of the thought bubbles are due to other things and not move-out requests.
Are any other non-TT'er struggling with this?

As someone with all my dreamies lined up .. I would be annoyed if they kept asking to leave super often. ):

Seems no good way to win.

If it's any help, apparently if someone you want to keep wants to move out, you can turn the game off before finishing the conversation and get a different villager ask tomorrow :)

Yes, but I've been reading posts about this possibly resulting in data corruption which has got me worried.

Yeah, 15 days is far too long for someone who wants to replace half the villagers, like me. I imagine we wont feel like this after we stop wanting to replace our villagers and just keep the ones we have, but right now it is kinda annoying.

Yeah, I was just thinking how I wanted to go island hopping. Luckily, Lopez asked to move today. Seems I get to go island hopping on Sunday!

I know we can go at any time, even if our islands are full. But I prefer to mostly only go when I'm looking for a villager because it makes the NMT cost feel more worth it. Even if I find a terrible villager, at least I can go home with materials and such.

I don't mind island hopping that much (except when I start to spend like hundreds of tickets lol). I kind of wish you could kick a villager out with an amiibo card and not have that amiibo immediately replace the villager and instead have an open plot for a day to attempt to fill it on your own.

I really wish they would make it possible for a villager you encounter on a random tour to move in even when your island is full but doubt that it's gonna happen.
I did do one tour when my Island was filled and it just seemed like a waste of Nook Miles not seeing a potential villager there.
I do want to encounter more villagers and my general approach is to invite someone I find agreeable (not necessarily a dreamie). Right now, I want to replace my Normal, Snooty as well as get an okay Jock.
The last time I did Island hopping was probably my 2nd week of playing the game when I was recruiting my last 4 villagers.
My only natural move-out so far was Rowan but I decided to adopt Zucker in his place who is my absolute dreamie so I couldn't pass that up.

I think someone posted a method where if there was a villager thinking of moving out, instead of saying no, they went to resident services and asked to move their house, refunded the move, and the next day the bubbles would move to someone else.

I don't know if this works for everyone though

The cool down period seems to typically be about 5-7 days after you deny a move-out.
I haven't heard of the method you mentioned though.
